Gang Problems ?

Does anybody have problems with gangs where they live? In my insulated part of Ohio I only see gang members from Dayton and Columbus coming in and setting up crackhouses, thats it. I don't think I would want to live in a city where there are 2000+ gang members roaming the streets.

im from the East side of Columbus and its gettin pretty bad, gangs are concentrated on certain sides of the city, bloods are everywhere on the East side even in the burbs, the northside is almost all crip except for 22nd st. West side is being invaded w/ Mexicans mainly MS-13, southside is the same as the East predominantly blood

Aig gid db14c 174-11side kick stones nigga.

Gangs are all over the place in NJ.. especially where I go to cop.
However, I never had a problem with them. They seem to like me.. for mostly business reasons, but I coukld kick it with 'em if I ever chose to do so..
I've actually had gang members save my ass more than once.. there's been numerous occasions where they've let me in their house because a cop was coming down the street, and we all know if you're white in the hood you're getting stopped/frisked/money taken from ya.

In my hometown was a supporter group of the hells angels. They really got kind of megalomaniac, as they even had a shop were you could purchase merchandising products with their logo on it. The media focused on them. Eventually there were big police raids and finally they had to dismiss their public appearance.

I have recently seen some documentaries about gangs in the USA. Seemed somehow exagerated for me, but i dont get why there are no big police crackdowns. Should be pretty easy to identify them and harrase them till they stop using colors.

Even if this wont change the situation in general, at least there would be less media coverage and therefor less pressure on the local police.
I cant understand why people act as a organised group in public when they are doing criminal activities. It just draws unneccessary attention.

man I'm from the East Side of Columbus (Livingston Ave), but for the generations before us the East Side was the place to be. I remember as a kid when it started getting really bad, most people moved out. I would move out. be like the rest of us younger people and live in Downtonish like me (Short North)

West Side is kinda kewl (I'm very close to it and got a couple connects there), because it's kind of like a "white people ghetto." sure there are some blacks there, but needless to say I've always felt pretty alright scouring the streets of the West Side

That's crazy man i lived off livingston and lockbourne growing up. But yeah the short north is where its at, especially since they popped all the short north posse crips a couple years back. But your right the west sides pretty mixed the Bottoms/hilltop are probably the most gutter place in the whole 614 though.

Its pretty sad what happened to the east side tho, its literally the killing fields of cbus i was lucky enough to relocate to Reynoldsburg, i plan on moving to the short at some point but i dont have the money at the moment

Im in Vancouver, everyone seems to think Hells Angels whenever they hear "gang" here. I know a lot of Red Scorpions though, which seem to be kickin up a lot. Im still reppin Kelowna hard KTF.

Canada has an interesting gang situation. It's more focused on high-level criminal organizations than street gangs. The epicentres are Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Both Montreal and Vancouver have an important Hells Angels presence, and the Hells are likely the top of the food chain wherever they are present. In Montreal, the Italian Mafia also has considerable clout, and so does a loose association of primarily Irish criminals known as the West End Gand. Montreal was the centre of a major dispute in the 1990s and 2000s known as the Quebec Biker War, which involved the Hells Angels and its associated clubs fighting against another outlaw biker gang called the Rock Machine. In Vancouver, the Hells run the show pretty much undisputed but there are a variety of multi-ethnic gangs (Red Scorpions, Independent Soldiers, etc.) that fight amongst themselves at the lower levels of the drug-crime echelon. Toronto seems to be much more of a free market, with a significant presence of East Asian organized crime and Somali street gangs. The East Asian gangs of Canada are actually very significant in the international drug trade, as they are responsible for most of the production of two of Canada's top black-market exports: MDMA and methamphetamine.

Some recommend books if you are interested in Canadian organized crime:

Montreal's Irish Mafia: The True Story of the Infamous West End Gang by D'Arcy O'Connor
The Notorious Bacon Brothers: Inside Gang Warfare on Vancouver Streets by Jerry Langton
The Road to Hell: How the Biker Gangs are Conquering Canada by Julian Sher and William Marsden

^ I watched a show about the biker wars in Canada during the 90's. They sure liked there car bombs.

HA's run the shit in London, and have been for the best part of a decade. Before them it was the Outlaws, then the pigs raided pretty much all of their clubhouses in Southern Ontario simultaneously and locked a majority of them up with the rest being chased out by the HA's. A lot of the Outlaws that were locked up back then are out now, and are soon to be released and are trying to get their hooks back into the London drug market. They are using street gangs out of Toronto & London to do the dirty work...

Reading those newspaper reports reinforces why I didn't join a biker gang. I risked my freedom enough being a junkie.

I spent a lot of time this year and last year in Cleveland, i lived on the eastside which is majority black and filled with Street gangs. primarly black Chicago MOBs like Gangster disciples (the biggest gang), Black disciples and Latin kings, and also a new gang that branched off the disciples the Heartless Felons who are notoriously violent. There aren't very many bloody or crips atleast real ones but there was one set of Bounty Hunter Bloods who were moderately respected.

There was also a large Mafia influence mainly downtown or west side, Cleveland was known as the bombing capital of the world during the 70s and 80s due to car bombing wars between the Irish and Italian mafia. The Italians used to control the east side but with growing African American gangs they were pushed further east into the suburbs or west into downtown or west Cleveland.

Cleveland is experiencing a huge heroin epidemic averaging 11 overdoses a week, they are blaming them on a huge increase on the purity of the dope some busts have found dope cut with the powerful pain killer fentanyl.

In my opinion one of two things could be causing the increase in availability and purity of dope. 1 that the chi town mobs like the GDs have a very close tie w/ mexican cartels which they could use to bring in uncut product in large quantities either from Chicago or straight from MEX. Or 2 the Italian and Irish mafia are using connects from Europe, Asia (or any foreign region) and importing them via great lakes (Cleveland is a port on lake Erie) and then using the established Black street gangs to push their product. Either way someone is flooding the roadside with pure product and its killing people everyday.

Sorry for the rant/report this stuff has always intrigued me.

Is there an open air market in Cleveland? I have a pretty good idea of where it would be. I have been to Cleveland quite a bit and the only drugs I ever bought were at the casino off normal people like me not professional dealers.( at least it didn't seem like they were pros.). There was a show on tv about the mob wars of the 70's it was really interesting.

There are definitely a few open air markets, although not as many as in the past (80s & 90s) i would say just about every project building on the near west and east side has an open air market, the only ones i know of for sure though are kinsmen in East Cleveland (if you've been to cle before you probably have heard of EC) definitely one of the most dangerous places in Ohio. The others would be 105 st, Sinclair, the Buckeye neighborhood, e 55th , and where i lived by Broadway and Harvard close to slavic villages, I've seen heard of open air markets in all of these hoods, anyone could probably cop there, i wouldn't advise it though these are all dangerous areas, you def run the chance of being robbed.

And yeah welderman the mob wars definitely left a scar on the city not so much physical more mental, the Irish and Italians have an extreme hate for each other even non mob ppl.

I used to cop in Detroit and I have drove through east Cleveland a few times and it doesn't scare me. Although anytime I'm in a new place I'm always cautious and on high alert, when you let your guard down is when things go wrong.

Detroit is rough, probably the most hood place I've ever been too. I've been there a couple times. But EC reminds me of a little Detroit w/ all the boarded up houses and what not, it used to be the nicest suburb in greater CLE, but after the Huff race riots it experienced a huge white flight and the $ and business left w/ the whites.

Have you ever gone at night? I "witnessed" a shooting on Harvard ave. one night it was chilling to say the least.

I live in Alaska and there aren't really gangs up here, in the true sense of the word I suppose. There are sets of young people who will claim a gang, like the Bloods or the Crips or whatever, but mostly they're just people who like to party and push dope (mostly marijuana and methamphetamine, I think) on the side, it's a lot less violent or territorial than "lower 48" gangs. Although things like disputes over money & drugs still end in shootings and beatings, just as in all gangs I think. Usually the groups are pretty mixed racially, too, with a mixture of white, native Alaskan, Asian, black and Hispanic people all in the same set.

Hells Angels also have a presence.

The culture of the street corner deal is essentially non-existent here for obvious reasons. Most dealing is done out of private residences and you kind of have to be connected into the drug scene already.
