What chill/laid-back music have you been listening to?

I'm talking about these

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Vol. 2
Autechre - Amber, Chiastic Slide, Tri Repetae

I know, Autechre doesn't really fit into the chillout/ambient genre, but neither does a lot of other things listed in this thread. It sounds "laid back" to me, so whatever. :)

Ah, Completely agree about those albums. Also Incanubla is amazing.. particulary the track entitled "444" one of the most amazing downtempo tracks i have ever heard, particulary for a track produced in 1993.

New Solar Fields album is pretty good.

Yes.. It is stunning. You must check out H.U.V.A. Network - Ephemeris if you enjoyed the solar fields. Came out a few months after. Incase you didn't know they are under Ultimae Records and the group consists of Solar Fields and Aes Dana.

Ultimae Records is my best discovery in the last 5 years in terms of stunning ambient and downtempo music. The releases are consistently amazing.

Got Portishead - Dummys on at the moment.

Air - Moon Safari
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Bargrooves Vol 8. - Music for Late Night People (Really good chilled album
Anything by Bonobo
Fat Freddys Drop - Based on a True Story
L.S.G. - Into Deep
Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place
Tosca - Opera
Spoonbill - Treecreation

All very chilled and laided back, well worth checking out...

Just wanted to give an update for 12/09. I have a few more favorites to add to the list of tracks I've been digging lately. Keep in mind, many of these are older but new discoveries for me.

Mum - Green Grass of Tunnel
Bonobo - Terrapin
Jonson - Moon To Earth
Caia - Remembrance
Kondencuotas Pienas Ft. Mill - So Pure
Winona - The White Room
Pete Namlook & Richie Hawtin - Silent Intelligence

i just discovered petrol bomb samosa earlier this year and i am in love :)

wow, Solar Fields is awesome. I've been meaning to find more ambient music like that.

if you like solar fields you might also dig carbon based lifeforms, single cell orchestra, and cell.

+1 on the amr diab suggestion from earlier in the thread too. he's not very well known in the states but i was exposed to his music in egypt this summer and it's great for a slightly more vocal/pop feel.

yeah, I've already been listening them. Not sure if you remember but I've asked you music similar to freescha or casino versus japan and you listed cabon based lifeforms and singel cell orchestra. I love all that dreamy downtempo.

thievery corporation is the best chill music.:p

QFT.

Or at least, almost true. In point of fact, the best chill music that has ever been made is made by DJ Frane (perpetrator of the "Beats to Blaze to" series, comprising 3 volumes: Frane's Fantastic Boat Ride, The Electronic Garden of Delights, and Journey to the Planet of Birds.)

Seriously, guys. The man is a wizard.
