Cause thats what everyone else calls it here, so I use it too, to prevent misunderstandings.
 
So I was browsing around Erowid late one night and happened to be in the Heroin vault. I was reading about it being used to treat house wives that where dependent to morphine and that health officials considered it as a safe alternative to morphine to help them tapper off. I began thinking that this may have been the Origin of the name "Heroin" for diacetyl-morphine as it is remarkably similar to Heroine, or a female hero. (I thought of it as a "Females Hero", saving them from withdrawal and addiction) If this thought holds any weight I'm not to sure but I'm still curious as to if anyone else has any thoughts, speculations, or truths about the origins of common drug slang.

(I should have included brand names for this question as well; basically any common name for a substance that isnt its chemical name is what I ment)

i know dope comes from the word doop,which is a dutch white suace, cuz i guess it looks like the latex off the poppy plants

Heroin is not only the "slang", it was the brand name for diamorphine by Bayer Pharma
