socko you want the insulin spike right after hard exertion (lifting). Insulin is the most insanely anabolic thing your body produces...the trick is timing it correctly (when you need it).
 
socko, the activity of bacteria in your intestines may be more important for the life of the human than the activity of the organ itself. Fermented foods are usually better than unfermented foods!
 
Thanks for the feedback Gaian and Coolio. I've started drinking energy drinks immediately after my workouts. They have been making a big difference in recovery and overall energy level over the past 2 weeks that I've been doing it.

The whole trophological food thing is still interesting, but I need to do a lot more research on it before I even think of trying. It sounds like an experiment that could go horribly wrong if not done properly.
