Does anyone like fucking around "leather cleaner", the shit that adult stores usually sell? What are the risks with using this shit, and can someone fill me in on what exactly the chemical does to your body/brain when inhaled? I was huffing this shit last night with a mate and it blew me away, instantaneous headache, kinda felt like the coming up period after ingesting a bottle of DXM containing syrup, cept more subtle and lasting like 1-4 minutes. Peace.

May not have been pure amyl nitrate.

I've noticed the stuff sold in aus sex stores gives you a headache after a few sniffs where as the stuff i import from east europe can be sniffed all night with no ill effects.

Inhalents are a dangerous class of drugs but it's aparrently safer than e which is safer than grog or smokes so it's all good hahaha

I've used it thousands of times.

First came about in the drug scene to loosen gays asses but it's widely used in the hetro community these days.

Big thumbs up for bedroom fun!!!

All the girls in my crew love the shit and i just sniff it when i'm munted to go to "sniffy land" for 30 seconds

Psilo

Alkyl nitrites are vasodilators; they cause your blood vessels to dilate (smooth muscle relaxation) which leads to a drop in blood pressure. This causes the head rush type feeling.

It also causes the muscles of your body to loosen up a bit, as PsiloSubNaut stated.

With regards to what he said about inhalants, not all inhalants have the same dangers; nitrous and nitrites are pretty safe, whereas butane can cause instant heart failure.

I'm not sure about the dangers of using nitrite, I believe it is fairly safe with increased risks when combined with other substances.

It does flush your face bright red!

I saw that top 20 worst drugs BBC doco and amyl was 19 from memory.

I lost a friend in high school who had a secret butane sniffing hobby. Was found dead in the toilets by a cleaner. R.I.P

I only go nitrous and amyl so hopefully they are pretty safe.

Prefer med grade N20 to the food grade... I always cough up oily shit after a night on the bulbs

Must read information from the rxlist.com

"Taking amyl nitrite after drinking alcohol may worsen side effects and may cause severe hypotension and cardiovascular collapse"

as always remember theres a main effect and a side effect

don't mix these bad boys with cialis or viagra either, fyi.

You know, I've always enjoyed poppers, and never really been able to find much literature saying that they are really bad for you. for the most part, the only danger listed is getting dizzy and hitting your head. that being said, they just feel like they're doing something to your brain that they shouldn't be doing... much worse than say nitrous or something like that. I suppose this would be an irrational feeling, but it's one of very few that I simply can't shake.

I remember the first and only time I tried this stuff, the little tiny commercially packed bottle. The hit was courtesy of a guy I knew, I wagged school to hang out at his shop and as night fell, he offered me a go from a bottle which was on display (a while back now). Never had it again, but it was decent!

Out of the different ones I have tried in Australia Jungle Juice gave the best effects with least side effects.

Yes, I should have thought of that actually... using nitrites along with any other blood pressure lowering substance is probably going to be risky and possibly quite dangerous.

Relatively speaking though, it is safer then 'hardware store' inhalants, e.g. computer duster, butane, gasoline, etc...

Romie, you are correct, poppers in Oz are made of isobutyl nitrite which apparently isn't as good... the only poppers I've seen and used are composed of this.

Err...all nitrites are potential carcinogens. Why?

Because they react with secondary amines in the body to produce nitrous amines - many of which are very powerful carcinogens. Check out some of my older posts for specific references.

Nitrosamines are also produced in small amounts naturally in the body due to enzymatic actions on nitrates, which are in many vegetables. Nitrites are also used as preservatives in processed meats (incl bacon) and beer, although antioxidants are now added to these foodstuffs which limit nitrosamine formation. Such was the concern in the 70's, that until it was found that nitrosamine formation was inhibited by Vit C, serious thought was given to removing bacon altogether from the US market. Sodium nitrite and salt greatly inhibit growth of botulism, and suitable replacements just don't seem to exist. NaNO2 also gives bacon and ham it's characteristic colour

Taking large amounts of a nitrite inhalant means potential for nitrosamine formation is far higher, particularly when taken with/after drugs containing a secondary amine group. MDMA is of course, a secondary amine.

To give you an idea of just how nasty nitrous amines are, think about one of the risks associated with smoking - pancreatic cancer. Smoking increases the risks of contracting pancreatic cancer, most likely because of the amounts of nitrous amines produced in cigarette smoke. Pancreatic cancer is supposed to be rare although I've known 5 people in the last 3 years that have died from it. It is almost always fatal. What's most alarming is the risk of contracting pancreatic cancer after giving up smoking. The risk ( nearly double that of someone who has never smoked) persists for a decade or more after stopping. While it is yet to conclusively proven, it is generally believed that it's due to nitrosamines.

So, while occasional use probably doesn't present too much of a problem in this regard, it's worth noting these properties and realising nitrites are not desirable chemicals to be consuming if you're concerned about long term health.

Micks warnings on alcohol and nitrites should be noted. Also the warnings on never taking Viagra with nitrites should be heeded, as this combo can cause extreme hypotension.

Personally, from someone who once got amyl in little vials (used as a cyanide antidote back in the 70s), I hate the stuff. It makes my head feel and look like a pumpkin. IMHO Alkyl nitrites (isobutyl is generally what's sold in shops) should be used for what they're best suited for - as solvents or reactants in syntheses.

Yo phase, so what ur saying is that u have a greater risk of developing a case of pancreatic cancer after you quit smoking?? I'm relatively fucked, I should quit while I'm still young.

Yeah my mate sometimes inhales the Colt Fuel while completely fucked of drinks in clubs and ive joined him a couple of times but it's not that great a feeling. it feels as if yor getting poisoned to some degree, i agree with dude above ima stop fucking round with that shit Especially while withdrawing from 4mg clonazepam.

No, the risk is pretty much the same and doesn't decrease until ~10 years after you stop smoking. Should you stop smoking? Other than listing all the medical reasons which you are probably already aware of, that's a question only you can answer.

Hey Phase, please tell me that Nitrites are not related to Nangs.

As a class of drug, nitrites are NOT related to nitrous oxide.

OK im not 100% on this but I think im pretty sure. I think the problem is as you said, the stuff sold here locally isnt the propper stuff.

I think what you want is amyl nitrite but the poppers you buy in aus sex shops are actually isobutyl nitrite or butyl nitrite. I could possible have these mixed up but I know its something like this. Although they all roughly do the same thing, there is one of them which is fdar superior out of the 3.

That's why i import jungle juice. Amyl Nitrate, never had a problem with it.
