Majored in social psychology and minored in poli sci with law school in mind. I also did a lot of coursework in neuroscience but couldn't hack the prerequisites to make it a major. I loved all of it and wouldn't change a thing about my majors.
I'm currently working assisting real estate brokers and have a tiny 10-15 hour a week consulting thing going in addition to that. Basically, real estate professionals count on me to effectively market their listings and oversee the administrative aspects of their transactions.
I hate it.
I think I may change my mind and going to culinary school, in which case I will be attending the California Culinary Academy's Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program (see
www.baychef.com for details). I don't know if a career as an executive chef is the thing for this dedicated 9 to 5er but I love to create meals for friends and family more than anything else, and they say do what you love, right?
I have also never worked in food service in any capacity. I think it might be occupational shock, but I am a damn good cook and I know I could be an amazing chef if I attend this excellent institution.
In the meantime though, I'd like to get back into corporate legal assisting which is what I did before I moved to CA. I'm aggressively pursuing jobs and hopefully I'll be able to leave the real estate business as a consulting thing and not depend on it for my income.
