Next on the horizon:
Probably the Nikkor 24-120mm VR or Sigma 18-200mm OS. I run into problems with older Nikon lenses not auto focusing on my D40 since the AF motor is in the lens, not the body. But I can mount damn near any Nikon lens made I just might have to manually focus it. =D

im going to say this is a fine thread for s&t.. i also reccommended it as a thread that would fit into an art forum :)

i dont really have any gear persey.. sadly i just use a canon sd750, however im not much of a photographer so
 
So I just replaced the SB-400 flash with the SB-600 flash. Wow, what a difference. Power, swivel head, bounce flash all over the place. It's great, and very programmable. I can use it remotely, too.

I also just ordered the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX HSM from adorama.com today, it should be here tomorrow morning. This will replace my kit lens, and gives me the added luxury of a CONSTANT f2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. And, being the EX line - it's pro grade.

I've posted a couple ads offering free photography for people looking for corporate pictures, events, parties, portraits, receptions, bands, concerts, people looking for website imagery, etc. I'm a little leary about plunging into the wedding photographer role being an amateur and all, but people sure love to roll their dice with freebies. I've already "booked" 4 events now; local christian rock band looking for flier pictures, a reception, a promoter hosting a concert, and a wedding in November.

By giving my service and time as "free" I get some exposure, as well as real world practice. Plus, some examples of "what I can do" to show future prospects. :)
 
I have a Canon Digital SLR. However, I don't have all the fancy bells and whistles for it yet because by purchasing the camera, I became broke and have been for well over a year. Sadness. I loves my camera though... digital sex.

I never really liked Sony camera's but when I got rid of my Canon powershot last year after losing my battery & charger I saw this and loved it. I sometimes use my stepdads Nikons. No idea what they are but he is a professional photographer so they rock :D This year we are going to move up to maybe a Nikon D40/D20 if I remember the models right.
 
my equipment is pretty minimal. nikon d40x with kit lens (better one when i can afford it) and canon sd1000.

i dont have this but i think it's super sneaky and nifty. i always want to take secret photos of people. have you guys heard of it?

The D40x is pretty cool. I wish my D40 would do ISO100 like the D40x.

Chrissie I thought you had a Powershot at one time? Canon A630 or something?

my equipment is more minimal than your equipment :p

i use a canon powershot 400:

i bought it refurbished and it was reasonably inexpensive. i chose it because i've had great experiences with canon powershot cameras in the past. it takes great pictures and it's tiny so i can pretty much take it with me everywhere i go.

Pretty much the same unit with a bigger LCD, I believe.
