Misc Trazodone Megathread

desyrel....a deformed goofy cousin of serzone.

Anyone had any experiences with this stuff?
It's a direct 5-HT2 antagonist with anti-depressant and sedative effects.
I love it. I was given a trial of it and actually requested it over benzos, I would say it almost feels like sedating MDMA.
You constantly laugh at anything and everything. All anxiety diminshes and you are left with a simple yet satisfying euphoria.

where does living live from day to day come in then? desyrel is psychotropic not to be toyed with. as an antidepressant...people 'in the business' will tell you it's honestly not effective for most. for some reason it's still produced, because its used as a sleep aid and as a antihypertensive which leads to tachycardia and syncope and death when combined with a bottle of gin...

theres nefazodone, something that doesn't turn you into a delirious mess, but helps you fall asleep and does have good anxiolytic properties. tried when all ADs have failed before initiating MAOi.....very hepatoxic but with monthly blood tests and dose management, you might just live through it.

honestly, stay away from the 'azodones'....theyre mean, and theyre nasty.

i barely noticed anything from trazadone when they gave it to me in detox...

I was prescribed trazodone as a sleep aid. My doctor liked to prescribe me trendy sleep meds.. first it was ambien, then trazodone. He was preaching on and on about how cheap it costs to produce trazodone and how it's non addicting and works great. He also really thought I should be on an SSRI based on my medical history (which probably doesn't accurately portray my actual mental health), so he thought he'd be cute and prescribe me this "sleep aid" that may also work on serotonin. Needless to say after being prescribed this shit I went online and researched it. After that I never went back to that doctor.

IME, It did work as a sleep aid at first. The first few times I took trazodone it knocked me out, but when I started taking it every night it quickly stopped working. I didn't want to start taking 100mg/day so I quit taking the pills entirely. I preferred OTC anti-histamine sleep aids over trazodone. I don't remember what it was about trazodone I hated so much, but it was unpleasant.

If you could use it once a week or something it might be a good sleep aid. Benzos or any sedating drug would be even better for this purpose though. Trazodone is mainly prescribed because it can be taking daily without being physically addicting.

I find it dysphoric and it only knocked me out the first time I took it. Ejaculating in my bladder ain't that fun either. Also, the hangover is terrible, you can't do anything for an hour after you've woken up.

i used to be on it for anti anxiety and sleep, i havnt taken it in a long time because the side effects are horrible, but it always used to knock me out. So i took one on my 10 hour plane ride to america recently hoping it would just knock me out so i could sleep on the flight but it didnt work properly and i was sick twice and very dizzy and just totally out of it.
Not sure if it was because of the altitude or because i also had the flu, or because i had a crappy seat which was impossible to sleep in.

As soon as i arrived in america i threw all my remaining trazodones in the trash.

Trazodone is NOT a tricyclic antidepressants, as has been suggested in this thread.

am i the only one who gets no effect whatsoever from trazadone?

i dont personally have a scrip, but my friend does... ive tried pretty large doses (300+mg), and NOTHING happened.

people who get high from this stuff: have you abused opioids/benzos?

Doesn't do anything for me.

My doctor prescribed me 50mgs at night for sleep and nothing. Finally he gave me some ambien and that seems to work well when I need some sleep.

Mirtazapine is pharmacologically similar in its mode of action to trazodone, but is generally more efficacious and with fewer side effects. This drug is generally a better option than trazodone IMO.

for scientific purposes i just took 3 100mg tablets. will report soon

EDIT: im not exactly the best candidate for this little trial as i pop these fuckers like mad, but well see.

rx'd it for sleep anxiety and depression 50 to 100mg at night but i rarely take it
when i did i felt sedating effects, body felt heavy, but it wasn't worth it really
i don't like sleeping

I didnt notice if anyone mention but its really good med for alc wd. I drank year ago for three months everyday and went cold turkey with trazodone. It really help for the worst shit u get from long alcohol seasons. Otherwise i prefer benzos for sleeps and restlessness so on...

i can agree with that, remeron at first felt euphoric, but at the same time made me kinda sick
trazadone has absolutely no rec value whatsoever, i think seroquel has more value to it than trazadone, atleast thats what the folks at one of the mental hospitals told me, i still stick with ambien tho for that all around feeling

They are tested for on 12 panel tests, so I guess someone out there abuses them.

On the other hand, trazodone is complete shit. One must be very desperate to use them to get 'high', and quite naive to enjoy it.
Why do some of you get so damn angry and judgemental? Everyone's neurochemistry is a little different, and no one has brought up what OTHER meds they are taking along the lines of serotonin /norep agonists or others. So you think it's a shit drug and you'd have to be desperate and naive to take it? So what? Don't take it then. Others apparently do and have a right to say they enjoy it without getting flamed to hell.

I take trazadone as a sleep aid. It takes 200 mg to put me out and my psychiatrist says some people are like that. I feel like there's a window where you have to fall asleep or else it doesn't work at all, just makes me groggy and my body feels heavy until it eventually wears off.

The window is like 15-20 minutes. So if I take trazadone, I just go lie down and rest and wait for it to kick in. If I don't and stay up doing stuff, I usually miss the window and sleep is a no go.

I used it for a short while (coupla months) when dropping heavy benzo abuse just to get a few hours of sleep a coupla nights a week. It works for a while til it doesnt but was thankful for it and prolly still have some in the safe somewhere.... Been a coupla years.

does anyone else experience severe absolutely horrible painful priapism with this shit?? today i had the worst episode ever!! my dick wont go down for maybe 8 hours it was too scary. maybe even longer, i was asleep. i woke up because of it! i decided to return to trazadone and quit zolpidem as it is too addictive. but jeez, how can i tolerate another psychotic priapism!!! i think it ruined my dick, honestly. my muscles ache so much, im scared to get another erection for real. IT HURT SOOOO BAD at one point and i had to find opiates to calm it down, for real! WTF man i have been doing viagra so many times viagra doesnt do IT AS BAD. i dont get the mechanism here, why is trazadone so bad for erection? one would think you can just take trazadone before sex and save money on viagra, but trazadone makes you dizzy and sleepy and tired. what a dysfunction we have here!

any help, ideas, suggestions what to do or take if i have another super super painful priapism!?!?! im embarrassed to go to the hospital :(
