Your top 5 concerts

Pantera-Far Beyond Driven tour
Type O negative-October Rust tour
The Rolling Stones at Comiskey Park- I got to sit in somewhere in the first 15 rows
The Who/Robert Plant

Jealous! You sir have brilliant taste =D

Dax Riggs is great. I just got a copy of Agents of Oblivion and have been playing non stop since. BTW I got to see Deadboy and the Elephantmen with Wolfmother at the Metro, the lead singer of Disturbed was there and he kept looking at me like he knew me.

i had been waiting to see him since i was 13. but his bands were all broken up and dead. i tried to see db&em in denver -- too young. tried to see them AGAIN somewhere else -- too young. but then i saw him at voodoo fest 2007 as Dax Riggs, (RATM was headliner there) and then the next day at the house of blues. i think i'm going to see him wensday night as well. i've only seen one other person more than once, and that was twin shadow.

Tom Petty - It was my first show. I had some molly and was dancing my ass off

Sigur Ros - This was the most incredible night of my life, I seen them right after seeing Pearl Jam for the first time as well. My gf who was the love of my life at the time was with me and I held her while we swayed back and forth during the show, I'm also not ashamed at all to say we both sobbed together at how beautiful it was during Svefn g englar and Vaka

Radiohead - It was during there In Rainbows tour and it was prolly the best show I've ever been to. I was so tired and sore the next day from pretty much dancing continuously the whole 2 and a half hours they played

Tool - Shit was pretty mind blowing, Danny Carey's bass drum is fucking intense

The Flaming Lips - Prolly the most fun I've ever had at a show, seen them three times now and it's always a good time

Honorable mentions would have to go to The Raconteurs, Jack was fuckin going crazy on the guitar that day. Also seen Stevie Wonder which was a lot lot better than I had expected

I must say, a lot of these posts are making me burn with jealousy, hehe.

- Rock on the Range in Colombus, OH. It was the first concert I've been to. It was a hell of a lot of fun, I crowd surfed my ass off, lost a shoe, and got drenched in beer. Slipknot and Mötley Crüe were my favorite bands there to name a few

- The Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) at Yankee Stadium in NYC. What more can I say other than it was definitely worth the distance :)

- Ozzy Osbourne in Auburn Hills, MI. Ozzy always puts on a wonderful show. His voice was flawless and damn that guy had more energy than I did!

- (will most likely be) Roger Waters' "The Wall" in Detroit, MI. I'm seeing them this upcoming June and I just know its gonna be a great show.

- Alice Cooper in Lansing, MI. He performed at the Commonground festival. His performance was amazing and theatrical as always (he got killed in about 5 different ways on stage) and I managed to stand only 5 feet away from him, which definitely heightens any concert experience for me.

i'm feeling nostalgic today. probably my favorite phish run that i ever did.

tour opener at the greek in LA. it's no berkley, greek, but it's a beautiful little venue up in the hills in hollywood. didn't have a ticket for this show, was only planning on doing the vegas halloween run, but plans changed. this show was sold out, hard. but got to the venue early, worked my ass off and scored a ticket. this show is nothing short of epic, but would be my 2nd favorite show of the 4 shows i saw on the run.

10/29/98 (Thu) Greek Theatre - Los Angeles, CA

Set 1: Julius, Roggae, Llama, Limb by Limb, Driver, Sleep (1), Frankie Says, Birds of A Feather, McGrupp, Character Zero

Set 2: Possum, Moma Dance, Reba > Walk Away > Simple > Albequerque, David Bowie, E: Something

then, on to vegas...where things got extremely strange for a couple of days ((thank you black gel tabs))
the shows were good, they did velvet underground's loaded for the halloween set, which was very cool. nothing totally over the top, and left me wanting more.

10/30/98 (Fri) Thomas & Mack Center - Las Vegas, NV

Set 1: Wilson, Meat > Scent of a Mule > Back at the Chicken Shack (1) > Scent of a Mule, Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress, Antelope, Guelah Papyrus, Lizards, Cavern

Set 2: Stash > Manteca, Tweezer > NICU, Prince Caspian, Golgi Apparatus, E: Driver, Freebird

10/31/98 (Sat) Thomas & Mack Center - Las Vegas, NV

Set 1: Axilla, Punch You In The Eye, Roggae, Birgds of a Feather, Sneaking Sally Through the Alley > Chalkdust Torture > Lawnboy, Mike's Song (1) > Frankie Says > Weekapaug Groove

Set 2: The Velvet Underground "Loaded": Who Loves the Sun, Sweet Jane, Rock and Roll, Cool it Down, New Age, Head Held High, Lonesome Cowboy Bill, I Found a Reason, Train Round the Bend, Oh! Sweet Nuthin'

Set 3: Wolfman's Brother > Ambient Jam (2) > Piper > Ghost, E: Sleeping Monkey, Tweezer Reprise

then, decision time....i had a ride back home with some friends i met up with in vegas. but, the guy i rode out to LA with was clearly in the zone, and said "fuck it, i'm driving to salt lake". so....i said "fuck it, i'm riding to salt lake with you".

so, the rumor in vegas was that they would play dark side of the moon for halloween, then they did the loaded set, which was totally fine. anyway, expecting just a really nice show in salt lake. the E center wasn't even half full, it was a long haul from vegas and everyone seemed tired. everyone but the band.

this show goes down in history with phish fans as one of the best ever, and i have to say, it could be the best show i've ever seen to this day. yes, they played dark side of the moon in Salt Lake, but the rest of the show is just retarded good as well. right out of the gates they kicked our dicks in the dirt with quite possibly the best tube ever played. nasty funk, with the start stop huge porn funk ending, right into drowned, which was ironically debuted on 10.31.95 when they played the who's Quadrophenia. the rest of the first set was pretty mellow, but very nice, with a nice and standard but rocking sample to close the set.

things were weird at setbreak (again, thank you black gel's).

there were rumors going around about them doing something special for the small crowd of devoted fans that made the trip, but i didn't really make much of them. rumors are rumors, and with phish, you really never know what you're going to get.

again...out of the gates for set two with a huge DwD into one of my favorite bust outs, mango song. moma brought back the funk and then they absolutely nailed my favorite phish song of all time, YEM. at this point i'm thinking, nothing really special is going to happen, they're just playing a fantastic fucking show....then, bam! HARPUA! this is what we travel for, and since it's known for being a segue into weird and unknown territory, i was hoping for something special. then they did it....from harpua straight into speak to me. i knew they'd play dark side in it's entirety. god, it was so strange in that place, it was fucking dripping, and the place was breathing, and they nailed the entire album.

the encore was phish being the goofy music nerds that they are with a quick rendition of smells like teen spirit. it was pretty horrible, but funny and they sent us away knowing that we had just witnessed something special.

so, yea....if you hate phish you probably didn't read this. if you're into them, you know what i'm talking about. maybe not quite on topic for this thread, but this is quite possibly the best show i've ever been to.

11/02/98 (Mon) E Center - West Valley, UT

Set 1: Tube > Drowned > Jam > Jesus Left Chicago, Driver, Bittersweet Motel, Limb By Limb, Wading In Velvet Sea, Sample In A Jar

Set 2: Down with Disease, Mango Song, Moma Dance, You Enjoy Myself, Harpua > Speak to Me, Breathe in the Air, On The Run, Time, Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage, Eclipse > Harpua, E: Smells Like Teen Spirit

Dave Grohl is one helluva performer. That guy really gives it his all.

and keeping on track with the thread, i saw them crooked vultures a couple of years ago at the tabernacle in atlanta. i'd put it in my top 5 shows of all time for sure.

i'd also put the one tool show i saw in san diego in my top 5. don't remember what year. early 2000? something like that.

god fuck you

them crooked vultures is the last josh homme band i have yet to see

this was the most medieval fucking instrument i've ever seen played, by anyone.

1. Yann tiersen @el payaso or someshit in los angeles, simply amazing

2. Agalloch @some venue next to an airport 12/21/2010- most energy I've ever seen in a metal show

3. Morbid angels set @ the scion rock festival in pasadena(?)- was a shitty set but I had fun in the pit not to mention starting one or two, the first was cuz some curly haired faggot kept headbanging in front of me, I moved nd he ended up in front of me again, something had to give

those are the notable ones off the top of my head

1). Nirvana - Reading Festival August 1991, about a month before they released Nevermind - they were only half way up the bill and Sonic Youth & Dinosaur Jr played after them but theirs was the best set of the whole festival. Kurt Cobain dived into the drumkit at the end and broke his arm :) They headlined Reading the next year and everyone raved about it but I much preffered this set, the energy was just incredible.

2). Dinosaur Jr / Jesus & Mary Chain / My Bloody Valentine - Brighton Centre April 1992 - what a fucking lineup and probably the loudest gig I ever went to.

3). The Pixies - London Alexandra Palace August 2005 - was gutted I never saw them live before they split so I was so happy they reunited to tour.

4). Spiritualized - Glastonbury Festival 1994 - jumped the fence in the middle of the night and got into the festival for free - the weather was amazing for the whole festival and just wandered about off my tits most of the time rather than watching bands. Dropped acid for the first time on the last day and watched them play the last set of the festival tripping my tits off, perfect end to the festival.

5). Orbital - Brighton Corn Exchange October 1994 - the music was great, the E's even better, best night I ever had on them.

the chemical brothers (all six times i've seen em, soon to be seven). sensory overload. taken with and without intoxicants.

the prodigy/ regurgitator - the old seninas, bondi around 2000
awesome sweatfest and moshed like nutters

regurgitator, hum music (first half of the 2000's) I've seen these guys dozens of times and having them in the intimite local as a record store was fuckin great. i mean quan's guitar was within arm's length.

sweatfest (klf, c & c music factory/ snap!) a few years ago. Mad fun. Aged crowd there for a good show. awesome drugs.

big day out 1999/2000 - back when i was young enough to know the bands enough to enjoy the entire day, these made australia day my favourite day of the year.

two shows challenge this list:

finally catching bjork after more than a decade waiting, and on the steps of the sydney opera house blew my mind. her voice was puuuur-feckt.

and i was at a three hour george clinton/parliament of funk tour last year, during which i had to leave half way through, because my son was coming 6 days early. i ran from the venue when i got the "my water broke" sms. took me literally five minutes to get home. despite having a fair bit of alcohol, i stayed up for the next day and a half. wifey even got a nap in with the epidural. anyway, great concert and free tickets with great friends, and one of the most memorable nights of my life.

1. Gogol Bordello - gypsy punk, 'nuff said
2. Atmosphere
3. Tenacious D - totally hilarious
4. The Killers @ Coachella 2009
5. The Raconteurs at a very small venue

Saw Manic Street Preachers last year at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, UK. That was intense.

Saw Manic Street Preachers last year at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, UK. That was in tents.

slightly changed to how i first read it... took a double take and giggled. ;)

1. ACDC - only band I've seen multiple times.

2. Nine Inch Nails - small college theater just as Pretty Hate Machine was about to break big. Small venue, about 100 people, Trent climbing all over the set and with high energy.

3. Smashing Pumpkins - Tampa thunder dome (? Hockey arena). Prime of their era before Billy pissed everyone off.

4. Rush - Presto album tour, so just after all the early stuff I loved.

5. Don Felder (from Eagles) & REO Speedwagon & Styx - recent, so I got those off the bucket list before they stopped touring. Surprise for my SO on their birthday. Helluva lot of energy.

** The biggest regret of not seeing someone? Dio before he died.

Not leaning to festival type stuff, but would list:

a. First Monsters of Rock tour - Van Halen, Metallica, I think there was Dokken and two other bands as well.

B. First Lallapalooza tour - Souxie and the Banshees, NIN again, my first real festival.

NIN - Bowery Ballroom, NYC - Aug 22, 2009
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02tL7YymAmc

The Knife - Terminal 5 - FINAL NYC SHOWS - 2014? So good I went to the second night.. same show...Check out the whole show or at least peep the last song. The was a freakshow dance fest, great if you like weird electronic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbdXdsDKoLo

Four Tet - National Sawdust - Brooklyn, NY 2016,17?
This was just a particularly unique light installation. the video doesn't do it justice but the lights are hanging down into the crowd. Four Tet is ok but the setup was memorable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15-Hhn3LOcw

I have to say, Manson, Terminal 5, 2015. I got into him late and had a lot of fun being smooshed in the crowd here. I'm sure he has more epic shows but this was memorable for me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnFwVszUf04

Dan Deacon, Brooklyn, NY 2014,15? He made a music video out of one of the concerts that I attended and my buddy called me up a year or 2 after we see him and says, DUDe your in the new Dan Deacon video. The show is special because its very interactive. Deacon directs the audience into dancing competitions, walls of high fives, and other things to encourage the audience to twerk.
(I'm in the background, blurred out, dancing in slow-mo at 1:30)

AND i'm going to have to replace the four tet one with a night i had in the summer of 2017 seeing Phish for the first time, with an old friend, at MSG in New York City.r Boston Cream night of Bakers Dozen run. After that went to The Good Room in greenpoint, NY to see Daniel Avery. Dark electro after Phish. EPIC NIGHT. Now Avery is opening for NIN at Radio City in OCT18. Crazy.

AND I guess I need to throw Dispatch, "final show", 2004, Boston, hatch shell. Free show that 100,000 people showed up to. Epic time, about to go off to college, fav childhood band..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlxcR6Zef2Q

This could go on and on.. And everyone has their tastes.. Just a look into a couple of memorable ones to ME.

AND I guess the Peach Festival in PA, 2015 and 2018. In particular, Dark Side of the Mule, in 2018 (Gov't Mule pink floyd coverband)

OK I'm done. Let me know if yall connect with any of these.

And Puscifer (Maynard James Keenan side band). This version of the tour, but in a small venue in North Jerz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO9LE7sxaOQ

rEAlly DonE now.

EDIT- AND -Nichoal Jaar, NYC. OCT 2017. Dude has a real immersive live show for just being one guy up there,
