Is Trazadone good for helping to induce sleep? My bupe Dr. wouldnt script me any thing like a benzo for sleep?......... mother fucker. I know its an anti-depresant, but he said its good for sleep. Have peple here had good/bad expierences with Trazadone, and if so what where they?

It helps to put you to sleep. The tiredness you get from it is more of an overwhelming sedation as with diphenhydramine or seroquel. I still prefer benzos to it, but if thats all you have then its does the job.

Dosage?

Whats considered a high dose of Trazadone. I curently take 100mg. a night. Is this a pretty averege dose, or do some people take much more than that?

My addiction specialist prescribes who I get Suboxone from also writes me it for anti-depression and sleep.

I take 50 mg in the mourning and 100 mg at night.

It helps a little bit but not much.

eek...I couldn't imagine taking trazadone when I woke up. My bupe doc prescribes me benzos luckily as well as AD meds if I want them. (I just stopped taking the citalopram...wasn't working) Luckily I can take xanax in the morning and it wont knock me out but trazadone would have me passed out in 30 mins.

Even 50mg has that effect on me when I take it at night. Only problem with trazadone is the slight grogginess in the morning.

For me trazodone worked alright at first, but then stopped working after about a week or 2. I would normally take a 50mg dose at bedtime as prescribed. I was told by my doctor I should start taking 2 per night (100mg) as my tolerance increased, but I never bothered to do that because I don't like the side effects of most anti-depressant drugs and even at 50mg doses, this drug made me feel a little weird. I don't know if my tolerance would have plateaued out or not. I'd say this stuff is effective to take on occasion to fall asleep, but once you start taking it regularly you can build up a tolerance to it quickly.

your bupe Dr. perscribes you benzos too, lucky fucker. :p

Yeah he treats me for my anxiety and depression issues too. I am lucky to find an understanding doctor that isn't "afraid" to prescribe what a patient needs. Apparently he used to be a pain mgmt doc before he retired to just do addiction therapy so maybe he understands patients better than most doctors around my parts.

Yeah, my Buprenorphine Dr. will only script me Bupe and antideprestants even though Iv been seeing him since before 2004. The one cool thing is all this time Iv ever only been scipted Subutex instead of Suboxone witch every one else seems to have for there maintence, Iv been on Buprenorphine for more than a few years and have never even tasted a Suboxone pill. I think when I very first started seeing him, and told him Im gong to WD, he wrote me a script for #12 15mg Restoril, thats it. He did scipt me Trazadone, even though Iv exspressed dicomfort over sleep issues for a long time now. He wont even script me Ambien, even though I dont realy want Ambien, I just thought It was something weak enough for him to consider.

My doc strictly scripts the xanax for my severe anxiety issues. Although they help with my sleep too. If it was strictly a sleeping issue he would probably script me trazadone as well. So if you have anxiety you may be able to have some luck with another doc, because after 2 years of being with the same doc I don't think you could all of a sudden bring up severe anxiety to get scripted benzos. However, even without benzos trazadone would knock me out, but like I said there are quite a few side effects, but the main benefit is the lack of major withdrawal like you will get with benzos if you take them daily like me.

i had some. dont remember mg but they was scored in fourths and a fourth and definatly ahalf did me in. they kinda made me dizzy. I take temazapam for sleep. they use to work good but heck now I can stay up on them. I have insomnia bad. I take lortabs for some injurys and the help me at work(coalmine) but I take more than I should sometimes when things are ruff but hate to go to something else. I have very very bad insomnia. Any one that has good advice about winging off of tabs so I can make my script last without getting sick holler at me through pm. I just hurt alot and I cant stop working.

thanx

Just be honest with him and if he is not fulfilling your needs then you may want to look for another doctor to help you out. One thing my doctor told me is that you must deal with real issues. Meaning that by him prescribing me more benzos or something stronger wont make my problems go away...they will just make me forget about them for awhile. You need to solve these "real" problems. No amount of drugs will fix it for you.

The trazadone should work in the meanwhile but work on your problem with other things like excercise, vitamins, don't drink, stay away from illegal drugs, etc. Also work on a new sleep schedule and try to stick to it every night. Ask him about other "non-addictive" sleep meds if the trazadone is really not sitting right with you. Tell him that this lack of sleep is putting you in a bad mental state and is making you want to do drugs again because you are unable to sleep. That may make him a bit more receptive to prescribing you something else, but you need to at least give the trazadone a try first as it had always done the job for me.

when i was in clouds house rehab i was buying trazies off a mate. and as i was coming off gear n meth with nothing but m.s.t's they sure as well worked to knock me out. they gave me a feeling like being pissed all fuzzy mouth but gagging for sleep

Anti depresant qualitys?

Trazadone has been working pretty well for sleep, and since Iv been taking them for a couple weeks Im Kinda feeling the antidepresant qualites of mood improvement :) . How does it compare to other antideprasents? The only one Iv been on was Lexipro. How well does Trazodone work as an antidepresant?, and is it an ssri(I think) like lexipro is.

trazadone will knock you out pretty quick, but its an overwhelming sedation feeling. its weird and unpleasant, i hate it. plus it always make me feel like shit in the morning, long half life or something.
