Australian GLBTI Bluelighters thread. Come outa the closet!

streetsurfer - i think you're on the money there

why the fuck am i posting in this thread by the way? 8) sorry for hijacking it...though i guess in some, extremely far-fetched senses of the term i could be classified bi...

but yeah - i think also a lot of gay guys feel that they have been extremely repressed before they have felt comfortable enough to come out, and they kind of rebel against this once out by fully embracing their queerness - i have seen in a lot of cases it somewhat fades with age, jadedness with the gay scene and finding more to your personality than your sexuality - but like you said, there are some queeny guys who it suits to a tee, and who it's probably less of a case of an act, but closer to who they really are :)

my last thing; drag queens... hate drag queens; tall and evil... why do they have to be so mean to everyone? i know it's part of the act but, i don't like accepting that; how is that entertainment?... nicole richie was ditsy/nice-mean, patsy was drunken mean... drag queens are just MEAN :X
OMG you rock so much!!!!

Drag queens I like: Divine because she had ridiculous amounts of chutzpah and style; Lady Bump because she's not a fucking bitch and is actually talented; Barbra Quicksand because to my knowledge she has never furthered her own career by walking over anybody else, and in his non-drag persona is politically minded and actually wants to help his community; the drag queen that fronted Fake (an awesome Aussie act nobody's ever heard of) because again, she was talented and had a persona which didn't involve slagging off women and asians.

There are also some drag queens I don't hate so much but remain fairly ambivalent about: RuPaul, again because her entertainment values seem to be not based on walking all over people, and she does look awesome; the one or two drag queens I've met in Melbourne who are genuinely normal people whose drag names I don't remember. The Adelaide drag queens I've seen who can actually put on an entertaining show, again whose names I don't remember.

The rest of them can go fuck themselves. In general, drag embodies everything which is shite about gay culture. In general, drag queens are bitter old drug-fucked queens who have no self-esteem and who deal with that by attacking anyone else who exhibits the slightest vulnerability.

Give me cross-dressing straight men any day.

^so so skanky close-up too :\
although the ability to dance in the biggest and most teetering heels ever invented is impressive.

i like cross-dressing straight men too! boys in drag are sexy. drag kings can go either way. i don't mind butch girls, and the odd drawn-on moustache can be a bit sexy, but on the whole it's not the same turn-on as for the other way around. and overalls are not hot :p

^^^Overalls are totally hot, but only on big buff farmer boys. :)

And they're easy to get off. ;)

^^

Just imagine Barry Hall dressed in only overalls... and maybe some work boots. Oh My God. Heaven on my stick.

That is about as hot as it gets.

^^^OMG!!!! Me and the chick who sits next to me at work have a Barry Hall shrine at work, both our desks are like covered in photos of him. =D

In other news, I can't believe you just wrote 'heaven on my stick'... 8);)

I'm a gay boy, love having a good time both in the scene and on the 'straight' scene. The gay boys I know are fairly str8 acting. You have to be careful with the screaming queens - they can be funny, but harsh, while being just a *tad* over the top. FFS, we get you're gay... it doesn't need to be shoved down our throats (no pun intended).

The gay scene's best party hands down in Toybox. No straight OR gay party has beat the laser show and sound system that party uses. It is abso-fucking-lutely amazing. Blows the fuck out of anything ANY venue has put on. The next one is on next long weekend at Luna Park, and this time they've called it Luminere. Should be good.

Def not a party for the "fully sick" boys and their "chicks". I guess the only thing is when you do go to a gay orientated party/venue, you have to keep an open head and an open fist. If you get hit on, take it in your stride and for Christ's sake, let the boy know you're not interested. I wouldn't let him know you're str8 -- this can attract gay boys in droves... lol.

But you know, not all gay boys like bubbly pop music. It's hard not to generalise... especially considering the gay boys everyone remembers are the really camp, girly ones.

We aren't all like each other. Bring on some hard Sublime music for me any day of the week. Best music in town. :D

and not all of the girls like ani difranco either
*screws up her face* ;P

go back to lilith fair with all of the other rugmunchers eloise
