You have similar tastes to me, Rated E!!! - Underworld, Primal Scream, Kraftwerk, New Order. I must say I'm surprised you put 'Technique' in your top 10, as I don't think it's that good. I think 'Substance' is far better, although maybe that doesn't count seeing as it's really a compilation rather than an album???

It's very hard to find 10 good albums since most are either boring and pass by unnoticed, or have glaring flaws.

Ah nice. :)

I haven't checked out Substance yet. But I've been meaning to. So I will make sure to do that. Technique yea, I dunno, I guess I wanted New Order in my list.

okay, like rated e i'll list recent stuff and classics . 5 of each. some i thought of have been mentioned but i won't echo those just for the sake of variety. can't rank music this good.

recent:

Scuba - Triangulation (great tunes, sounds best around 3-4am)
Paul Kalkbrenner - Berlin Calling (too bad the movie wasn't that good. a scene in it he is producing "aaron" on ableton and the beat playing with the expression of contentment on his face really did it for me cause u know sometimes when u listen to a great song u think to yourself "music is all i need"
The Field - Here We Go Sublime (if there is heaven, this is what they would play while waiting in line to get in)
DJ Sprinkles - Midtown 120 Blues (house music at its finest. to me its like a history lesson on house music, listen to intro, you'll know what i mean)
D-Bridge - The Gemini Principle (what would be played ascending into heaven)

classics:

Plastikman - Consumed (brilliant minimal, imo his best work)
Grooverider - Mysteries Of Funk (a shame cybernetic jazz isn't on utube, but yea this blew me away when i heard it, i can remember in the car with my parents, headphones on thinking "this is what the future sounds like"
Bad Company - Inside The Machine (imo the best dnb album, during the great acid wave of 2000 before pickard got busted, i tripped so much listening to this, some of the best times of my life)
Gas - Zauberbeg (dense, hypnotic, atmospheric sound. an outdoor rave, heard floating through the air from a a neighbouring village. "GASeous music, caught by a bass drum just marching by, that streams, streams out through the underwood across the forest soil")
I-F - Fucking Consumer (space invaders are smoking grass... nuff said)

I have similar taste as well - Agree with the above though - Technique is pretty much last in the queue if you want to rank New Order albums (although I haven't even bothered to pick up their last couple of albums...). Plus on Substance you get the original version of Blue Monday (not the '88 remix with the extra sample overkill).

Here's my list for reference:

Depeche Mode - Violator
Hybrid - Wide(r) Angle
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Leftfield - Leftism
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Air - Premiers Symptomes
Goldfrapp - Supernature
Gary Numan (/Tubeway Army) - Replicas
Single Gun Theory - Flow, River of my soul
Pole Folder - Zero Gold

Of course, ask me tomorrow and the list will probably be different, plus it depends on where you draw the line on 'Electronic' - I included Primal Screams - Screamedelica in the non-electronic thread.

Also, Boards Of Canada fans should check out some Severed Heads clips which some of you will hopefully enjoy...

8. Cosmic Gate - Sign Of The Times

Top ten? Damn I'm going to have to think about this one. I'm currently hooked on the new Crystal Castles album, but there are definitely better ones out there.

PS: Sooo much good music in this thread...

so what about crossover type stuff? i mean celldweller successfully mixes DnB, goa, and metal, often all in the same song. i still consider it electronic music....
