NEMD has a thread like this. EMD needs one too!

So, let's all make lists of our favorite electronic music albums.

Here are the rules.
1. You can only have ten or less.
2. Must be electronic music.
3. No various artist compilations allowed. Single artist compilations are okay.
4. Try to rank them if you can.

Okay, here is my list...

Edit: I have to re-write it because I changed my mind...

1. Brooklyn Bounce-BB Nation
2. Laurent Wolf-Wash My World
3. Showtek-Analogue Players in a Digital World
4. Brooklyn Bounce-Sex, Bass, Rock N' Roll
5. The prodigy-the fat of the land
6. Gigi D'agostino-l'amour tojours
7. Benny Benassi-....Phobia
8. David Guetta-Pop Life
9. Lasgo-Somethings
10. Cascada-Everytime we touch

As a casual electronic fan...

In no particular:
1. Crystal Method - Vegas (for dancin')
2. Organic Audio - Lovelight (for chillin')
3. Crystal Method - Tweekend
4. Crystal Method - Legion of Boom
5. Paul Van Dyk - Politics of Dancing 2
6. Prodigy - Fat of the Land (their live DVD would be #1 but this is just albums)
7. The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld

Lemme think of some more

Tourist is no. 1 but the rest are in no particular order:

St Germain - Tourist
Chemical Brothers - Surrender
Underworld - Everything, Everything (Live)
Fatboy Slim - Better Living Through Chemistry
Daft Punk - Homework
Dimitri From Paris - SacreBleu
Hatiras - Arrival
Kraftwerk - The Man Machine
Rinôçérôse - Installation Sonore
Vitalic - Flashmob

Nice, we needed a thread like this:)

No 1 is Tales of the Inexpressible, everything else in no particular order.

Shpongle - Tales of the Inexpressible
Vibrasphere - Lime Structure
Scientist - Scientist Wins The World Cup
Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom
Eat Static - Declassified
Hallucinogen - Twisted
High Contrast - True Colours
LTJ Bukem - Producer 01
Massive Attack - Protection/No Protection
The Prodigy - Experience

I decided to avoid including the other Shpongle albums and Ott's remix of Hallucinogen (In Dub) for the sake of variety.

only LPs? I don't think I can come anywhere near having 10 that I even like.

I think the one and only full artist LP from an electronic artist that I would even consider putting on this list is Rogue Element - Rogue Rock

This is a good thread!

Obviously this isn't easy, but for now I'll say...............

1) Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman
2) Kraftwerk - Tour De France Soundtracks
3) New Order - Substance
4) Orbital - The Brown Album
5) Underworld - Second Toughest In The Infants
6) Underworld - Beaucoup Fish
7) Burial - Untrue
8 ) Orbital - Middle Of Nowhere
9) Pulp - His N Hers
10) Alex Smoke - Incommunicado

7) Burial - Untrue
8 ) Orbital - Middle Of Nowhere
9) Pulp - His N Hers
10) Alex Smoke - Incommunicado

im likin your choices there especially with burial, his music seems like it has no regular rhythm, its pretty sick, and obviously orbitals middle of nohere is great, but idk if as an album it really hold up, particularly i love nowhere to run, but the others just dont really do it for me like for example the brown album did, and idk i just wasnt ever a fan of new order or kraftwerk though and idk if id put 3 underworld albums in the top 10 with so much better music out there

Prodigy - FOTL - it never sounds dated. Sounds just as fresh today as when it came out.
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi or Music has the right to Children
Gabriel and dresden - ST
Infected Mushroom - BP Empire
In terms of a classic Trance Mix I'd go with AvB - Boundaries of imagination
Maybe sasha - Airdrawndagger
Aphex Twin - I care because you do gets an honorable mention
Jean mich Jarre - Oxygene
Maybe music for airports

Any standard house records/techno that's not a comp or mix?
Air - premier symptomes

great thread idea. there's an argument for distinguishing between artist cds and mix cds but perhaps that's for another thread...

here is my top 10 in no particular order:

1. surrender - chemical brothers
2. artcore - astrix
3. music has the right to children - boards of canada
4. high desert sound system - dj john kelley
5. global underground 006 sydney - john digweed
6. no rules - growling mad scientist
7. unlimited - logic bomb
8. talking stick - medicine drum
9. beaucoup fish - underworld
10. radio - x-dream

honourable mention: orbital 2 - orbital

alasdair

Bil Bless - Squarnch
Skeetaz - Off
Bluetech - Sine Waves and Singularities
Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Születet
Psilodump - Psilodumputer
Psykovsky - Da Budet
Kindzadza - Waves From Outer Space
Steve Roach and Vir Unis - Body Electric
Monolake - Polygon Cities
Autechre - Tri Repetae

Ranking this is absurd for sure, these artists all do totally different things for me, the word "music" encompasses such a broad spectrum of sonic expression with little baseline for comparison.

Well this is just off the top of my head on a whim, I'm sure I would come up with 10 different ones on any given day... But frankly this is a nearly impossible exercise, as asking the top 10 out of a world of music that has such immense depth and variety...

In no order except that Freescha's album is my number 1 favorite, Shpongle and Solar Fields are tied for 2nd.

Freescha - Whats come inside you
Shpongle - Tales of the inexpressable
Solar Fields - Movements
Ian Pooley - Since Then
High Contrast - True Colours
Joey Youngman - What's your fetish
Kindzadza - Waves From Inner Space
Amon Tobin - Permutation
Goasia - From Other Spaces
Sufi - Timewave Zero
Boards Of Canada - The Campfire Headphase

beaucoup fish - underworld

Beaucoup Fish is mindblowingly good in places (Cups, Jumbo, Push Upstairs, Kittens, Push Downstairs, Moaner), but the rest of it is pretty average, and Bruce Lee is possibly the worst track Underworld have ever made!!!! That said, the good tracks are so good that the album easily made my top 10 :)

1) Shulman- In search of A meaningful Moment
2) Shpongle- Are You Shpongled?
3) Massive Attack- Blue Lines
4) Chemical Brothers- Come With Us
5) The Orb-Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld
6) Leftfield-Leftism
7) Prodigy- Fat of the Land
8) Hallucinogen- The Lone Deranger
9) Ott-Blumenkraft
10) Infected Mushroom- Im the supervisor
