1) Disclaimer.

This is a forum dedicated to serious and distressing problems. It's a place to share ideas and concerns with others that have been there or are there now. The opinions expressed should not be mistaken as professional advice, nor can this take its place. In no way does Bluelight or those posting here guarantee that any advice given here is necessarily safe, credible or that the outcome will be desirable. If you do have medical or psychological concerns about yourself or a 'friend,' the best course of action is to consult a professional source. Bluelight is also not affiliated with any links provided nor does bluelight necessarily condone any of their practices. These links are provided as a starting point to begin looking for information.

2) Guidelines

This forum was created to address the need for drug related psychological and emotional help. Whether you raise questions about yourself or someone you are concerned about, the goal of this forum is to offer a tolerant, respectful discussion to help people assess a dependency on drugs, learn to deal with the reality of intense psychological or emotional situations, and seek professional help when required. While any drug use is harmful to you mentally and physically, we want to help before a crisis is reached, to help users practice moderation and to have resources available for those who know they or someone they love is heading in the wrong direction.

Though this site is not professional, nor does it tackle every problem, there is a wealth of information available to you. Please start by utilizing the FAQ section, as well as internet searches to aid you in handling the issues you are dealing with. Feel free to post for discussions, but first try and see if this has been addressed already. This will undoubtedly save time and resources.

Keep in mind the moderators and administrators have jobs, school and a life of their own. This is a volunteer board and you may not have answers immediately. If you find yourself in a crisis situation, please use one of the emergency help lines. (To be updated) Questions about drug interactions or physiological effects from drug usage should be directed to the Medical Q&A forum. The discussions are for active communication and support for those who seek the council of others who have experienced similar situations and come to terms with it. If you are uncomfortable using your registered bluelight name, please post under an unregistered name or email one of the moderators to post on your behalf.

Remember, keep discussions respectful and be honest about everything.

3) Tips for writing a good post:

A) Title the post with a clear indicator of your topic. ex.. "Anxiety increased from Meth use, what should I do?"

B) Do NOT use the names of anyone else (bluelight name, or real name) as that person may not want this aspect of their life shared as common knowledge.

C) List the types of drugs used as well as length of usage (ie, I've
been rolling once a month for 3 years, smoking weed 4 or 5 times a week for 8 years, and started shooting heroin once a week for the last 2 months).

D) Explain your environment. Do you live with parents or partner, what
is your age, what do you do most days (work/school/relax), why do you feel this is an issue, what do you think caused it, where do you see it going? The more information you provide, the better we can respond with useful and applicable information.

We also encourage people to return from counseling or re-hab and share with us their experiences. These can be used to give others an idea of what to expect from the service you used for your help, as well as how it effected you. We would like to use these to strengthen our listing of services by indicating methods of counseling, types of addictions dealt with, cost (if any), legal ramifications of coming forward (if any), etc. If you know of any phone numbers or services not listed in our FAQ, please email them to one of the moderators for addition into our listings. Stick to sharing resources that are available to the majority of people, as posting about the Betty Ford clinic is a bit beyond the physical and monetary means of most people.

Advice on Alcohol for 14 to 16 year olds. [SC] OK, I guess.
Trashed http://www.trashed.co.uk
Advice on Drugs for 14 to 16 year olds. [SC] Annoying website, but some basically sound information. Not really any counseling info.
D-Code http://www.d-code.co.uk
Drug information written for 13 to 25 year olds. [SC] Nice info, again nothing on counseling.
Highs and Lows Project Education http://www.gmp.police.uk/highlow/highlow.html
