Opioids are oxycodone and oxycontin chemicly different?

i know oxycontin is just a 12 hour slowed release of oxycodone but im wondering if the 2 are chemically different or if contin's pill is just made to be processed slower by your body
 
Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin.
