Why don't we have a megathread about codeine? It's also widely abused.

Well, anyway, I got my steroid shot in the back today and they knocked me out for it and sent me home still groggy and I was in AGONY from the back pain and they told me to "just ice it." Well, I am sensitive to cold in the first place, so applying ice did NOT sound appealing and I happened to have a HUGE batch of codeine I got from where I'm not telling. So I took some of those, 1 Xanax, and I slept the rest of the day. Then I woke up, hours later, still sorta high, but my dumbass had to take MORE codeine. Then I tried to stay awake to enjoy the high but I just couldn't. I couldn't read, couldn't focus enough to watch TV, so I finally gave up and just went back to sleep. I woke up just now, at about 5 AM, and I'm not high, but still "out of it." the main problem I have is that I ITCH UNCONTROLLABLY ALL OVER. I took a Benadryl, and the itching subsided, but I'm like "OMG WTF was that?!" I've never played around with codeine before (and I got the kind with no APAP in them) but how much should I be taking? I don't want my tolerance to go sky high. These are 60 mg pills. I'm just lucky enough to have enough to last for the next few days which are going to be hell with the back pain (I've done these steroid shots before, they gave me OXYCODONE at my last place that I went to for the pain. I'm going to a new, holistic place, that doesn't believe in drugs, just to convince my family that my main goal is pain relief - and it is - but I don't mind a high now and then so I buy my drugs off the internet. I know a place that's both reliable and the drugs aren't bad quality. I'm not naming names though!)

Getting tired now...probably the Benadryl...back to bed for me. I'll check in later....Thanks to all you good people<3

All opiates cause itching, codeine is especially bad. Best bet is to take the antihistamine (benadryl, in your case) half an hour before taking the codeine).

If I had an endless supply of codeine phosphate pills, I would be on them as long as possible. I always liked codeine for pain.......those 60mg pills are awesome but now gotta take several.

I've been asked by my spine specialist if I wanted the shot in the back & said no......too many people told me it hurt. She even told me it would hurt a bit. I will stick to pain meds

I've been getting steroid injections in my lumbar on average of 3 times a year for the past 6 years. I don't find them to be really painful at all. They knock you out for the procedure, and nothing more than a little added soreness for a day or 2 afterwards. They're really not a big deal, so I wouldn't let the possibility of pain scare you away from them. They used to work wonders for me, but over the years they've gotten less and less effective.

i like having half a doxylamine pill for the itchiness, for me the added sedation is a plus aswell
