Mushroom Season 2012

The SE Qld area is most likely dried up now, but further north there are still a few cubensis to be found in the cow paddocks. The temps are rapidly dropping so your luck is running out fast! I wouldn't bother hunting if you are within 250km nth of Bris. The humidity has dropped considerably in recent days and the Qld season as a whole, is pretty well over...

As for the subs, I am hearing reports of small finds throughout SE Melb and also higher altitude parts of NSW and the ACT. This is confirmed by recent posts here and on shroomery.org

I wouldn't bother looking in S.A until mid may at the earliest. They were never up in SW Vic before May 7 in my 9 or so years of hunting, so I doubt they will be up in SA anywhere near that date. They usually didn't sprout until late May/early June in SW and even central Vic so wait until late may (at least!) if you are in SA. Otherwise you will be doing a whole lot of walking for nothing (not that walking is bad for you ;))

Happy hunting trippers :)

nice to see a post from you psillo!

pls pop on chat every so often so we can catch up and talkk shit yo :)

heading out this weekend in hopes of a fruitful hike in SE vic.

I remember the first ADD mushroom thread I found was started by you when you were a mod Psilo! Haven't seen you since there was a small dispute between you and some of the other mods and rada rada
It's good to see you posting again, and thanks for the tips! I only went for one hunt last season and I was unsuccessful, so I'm hoping I'll have more luck this season.
I'm just eager I guess, I'll definitely be waiting until mid may-june at least, I just want to actually find some subs!

What's the predictions for this season in Victoria? Going to be a good one? Not much rain so far but it is early days.

been goldies (cubes) popping up since like Novemberish and they are still growing now...not for much longer though, starting to get a bit foggy/frosty in the mornings now

Bellingen areaish

I think it will be awesome, allready finding subs, and it's not even may yet.

Whoa really? 8o

Must be hunting at altitude to get anywhere near correct temps. Way to warm in low lying areas for a while yet.

I'm thinking it'll be another awesome season, pretty regular rains still and nothing to indicate this stopping. I probably wont go for a walk for another few weeks yet - unless I see some quality finds posted up here of course ;)

Edit::

Looking at melbourne weather right now. Just had 'enough' rain over the past day or two, with nothing over 19degrees until weds.
Might be worth a look after all.

I've been feeling this vibe with the weather here in melbourne like it's going to be a plentiful season in this year. haven't consumed mushrooms for around 2 and a half years. I'm sure this thread will help keep me apprised of these little guys popping about but they've already been calling me for sometime now. I'm exited and looking forward to doing some solo expeditions(s) intended pun

Rain glorious rain.

Checked my patch today, very optimistic admittedly. Ground wasn't dry, but not proper damp either. Although with this rain today (hail even..) I'm thinking we might have some sub porn up by Wednesday. =D

Are they mature? Roughly where in Victoria are you may I ask?

Sorry bout the late reply, We have been searching N.E. vic.
Their not where they usually are yet.

My mate woke up the other morning, went out for morning cigggie out front, looked down and found a massive patch, just 2 metres from the front door.

Reckons hes never seen them there before. trust me their subs, I was tripping balls Saturday night, one of my biggest shroom trips in a while.

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-range-forecast/28-day-rain/vic/melbourne said:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 21 April to 25 April, 4 May to 8 May, and 15 May to 19 May. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 16 April to 20 April, 28 April to 2 May, and 2 May to 6 May.
Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 20 April to 24 April, 24 April to 28 April, and 2 May to 6 May.

Melbourne should be having almost no rain from now until the 21st of April, but then it is non-stop rain, continuing into May. Sounds promising!

Here's the extended rainfall forecast:

Can't wait to try my hand at some hunting in SA in a few months! It'll be my first time but I'm pretty confident. Is it too early for you experts to tell if it'll be a good season or not?

When the season properly kicks in, the mushrooms visit me in my dreams. I've had a couple of mild visions, but it's early yet. I'm going to give it another ten days or so.

Heading out today, although there hasn't been a huge amount of rain lately, but it's been freezing at night.
We'll see how we go, found a good amount earlier in the season so I'm optimistic.

Yeah we picked quite a few yesterday despite the less than desirable conditions. Seemed a bit dry around the ACT, but we still picked enough to have a wicked crazy night.
