86. Pet Sematary (1989 - Mary Lambert)

This is probably the first horror movie that I ever saw, so this one has some sentimental horror value for me.

because it's entertaining. scenario, violence, sex, and a reasonable production value. to be watched with friends and beer.

i don't know that dario argento is a great filmmaker, but he made a great film. maybe my favorite horror movie. the lighting and sound create an amazing and creepy atmosphere that is well maintained from the very first scene to the last.

76. Brain Dead / Dead-Alive by Peter Jackson 1992

I think this needs to go in. In many ways a pretty terrible film really but still brilliant just for its virtuosic cartoon gore.

I guess this is more on boarderline thriller really but still very influential in horror I think.

74. Hausu ('77)

one of its inspirations must have been The Wizard of Oz. a style-over-substance success story. i think it also owes something to the less successful czech film, Daises. reminds me a lot of Suspiria--released the same year in a different part of the word--but in many ways they are very different movies.

House is fun, campy, and film-y. rarely scary. a must see for any movie buff.
