drug counseling?

Just after some information on drug counseling services available in Adelaide. Have done a search of the web and found nothing even remotely close apart from a church of scientology program, think I might pass on that one. The reason I ask is I think, I know, I'm due for a change in lifestyle. I have been lying to everyone I love for too long and would like to experience work without a comedown for a change, maybe even see a movie, go to the football straight. I crossed the line between recreational use (whatever that is) and blatant abuse a long time ago. I have also recently ended (to my joy and disappointment) my longest spell without pills or powder in the past 3 odd years, A massive 7 weeks and I had to go to another country to achieve that. It has become obvious there is a problem. I never stopped thinking about them for more than 30 minutes and cant wait to do it all again, it dominates my thoughts, my plans, my budget. I did manage to have fun without them recently, but I couldn’t help wondering every time I was doing something how much better it would be off tap, stoned, tripped, you get my drift. If you are aware of such services the information would be much appreciated and utilised upon my return.
Thank you in advance
JoKeR.

Your local Alcohol and Drug Information Service phone number is 1300 131 340. They should be able to let you know of some drug counseling services in your area.
Also, try your state drug user group SAVIVE. You can contact them on 08 8362 9299. They should be able to give you some other options for drug counseling.
Good luck :)

As they say "it takes a real man to admit when he has a problem".
Much respect to you Jokerswild and good luck.

^^^^^^ I totally agree. You made a good choice dude, good on ya :) :)
Just another tip. The only way you will forget about drugs is if it's not in your face every day...if you get what I mean. Maybe time to look at more porn instead of pillreports. Just my 2 cents ;)

8) Definitely the most serious post you've made Jokerswild!
My advice is to maybe find another passion, one requiring some degree of diligence. It possibly won’t cure your addictions, but management and banishing of interfering desires are much easier goals IMO.
Once you know what it is you wish to pursue - it may even be in some way drug related - indulge yourself completely in it. Tenacity will bring about a natural satisfaction and this reward will be a strong ally.
Most people grow out of things, even if it is just the constant regularity of some practices.
Your place on Bluelight need not change should you master or change your urges. In many ways you will feel to be of more importance to the board if you’ve controlled this spirit of wild abandonment. Maintaining a sense of humour rather than becoming contemptuous is all that’s required, and I’m sure you’ve mastered that one already ;)
Good luck Jokerswild, but don't let any form of withdrawal dampen that sense of humour :D

Seriously though, best of luck with everything - it might be tough, but it'll definitely be worth it. And you ask about drug counseling? Feel free ask for advice on bluelight, because there's plenty of people out there who know exactly what you're going through. :)

phase_dancer: You might be right in in what Pleonastic quoted, but I think right now he has come to the point that he wants to stop taking and personally I don't think it helps if he comes across a post that says (Green CU, just new on the market, seems to be flooding the place, tests up MDMA)....... ;) get me? I'm not saying stay away from bluelight, but maybe vear off to the social side of it.
Later on once he is strong and past it all then he can come back and use his knowledge, but for now mate try to move on to something new in your life. Good luck, I really hope you acheive what you really want.

Mate,
You've got a hell of a lot of mates that will be standing along side ya too.

Jokerswild, you can contact the DRUG and ALCOHOL SERVICES COUNCIL on 1300 131 340. They can give you free and confidential counselling any time of the day or night. They will also send you info to read if you require it, or refer you onto to other services that can help you.
Alternatively, you can go straight to here:
ELLURA CLINIC
74, Hill St
North Adelaide
Ph: 8267 3588
Good luck sorting out your problems my fellow adelaidian :)

Cheers for the info, and thanks for the support. Also I would like to continue on as an active member of bluelight, I at times may sound reckless but I have done my utmost to educate myself in regards to 'safer' drug use and I hope over that next 12 months I will have a little more to offer. Might avoid daily updates on pillreports though.
Thanks Again
JoKeR :D
P.S. gOOgster care to join me? we might be able to get a group discount.

Just don't take them! Na seriously, there is a good drug counseling service provided at Adelaide university (if you are a student there). I understand the situation you are in and respect your decision. I have recently decided to change my lifestyle and am feeling much better for it! It's now 6 months since i've had a pill and i have no desire to take them again. I find it alot harder to give up meth! Fortunately my friends have supported my decisions and don't temp me to much. Good luck! My advise is to drink more, you'll feel better for it the next day. There's no bettter way to give up a drug than taking up another one ;)

In Japan the spirits are $10 a bottle, the beer is arguable the best in the world and the smokes are $3 a pack. By the time I get home I will be a fully fledged, nicotine addicted piss head, just another couple hobbies I will need to deal with upon my return. Ist life grand.

I agree with this point, though it would depend on the person. The more I read up on drugs, the bigger the craving. Especially during a "clean" period.
Good luck Jokerswild. What helps me are friends with other interests...they are motivated to do all sorts of crazy stuff like going bush, road trips (alcohol only!) to anywhere and visiting straight friends. I can be on a break without any conscious effort sometimes.

Unfortunatally over the past 3 years I have, as is too often the case, turned all my straight friends into off tappers like myself, take gOOgster for example, he was a ruler 12 months ago, never even smoked and now he's a regular Dougie the pizza boy. Guess I'll just have to learn to say 'no thanks but I'll have another Carlton Draught though.' Would be nice to enjoy the whole weekend for a change too, might even finish restoring my car that has taken a back seat for a little while.
Thanks again
