Produced By Steven Spielberg and Directed by JJ Abrams.

The trailer looks like lots of awesome fun.

The story is definitely closely guarded and mysterious but it seems to involve some kids making a home-made movie with their Super 8 camera, a train derailing and some sort of SOMETHING trying to beat the iron doors off one of the train compartments.

milking cloverfield imo. characters in abrams pics all seem to be the same obnoxious twerp.

Anyone recently purchase Portal 2? One of the 'Extras' in it have an 'interactive trailer' (so to speak) of this movie. Thought it was kinda interesting...

I'm looking forward to this movie but guessing that once I actually see it it'll be annoying like Cloverfield and The Happening.

Super 8 starts Friday. Anyone plan on seeing it this weekend? It looks interesting, but I'm sure the creature will be a letdown no matter what it looks like. That's the price you pay when you hype the creature up for nearly a year before the damn movie even comes out.

I mean, look at Cloverfield. It was a good movie in my opinion, but it suffered from hype that had everyone thinking the monster was everything from Godzilla to a giant whale-hybrid with legs. What we got, although I still think it looked cool, could never live up to what we already conjured up in our imaginations. It can only hurt a movie when you do that.

I liked Cloverfield. I'm also really glad I saw it at the cinema, because it added a lot to that film.

I might go see Super 8 on the weekend. I haven't really paid much attention to the hype, so I don't have any real expectations.

this is my most anticipated out of the entirety of the summer blockbusters!!

even though it's filmed in West Virginia, it is set in Dayton, OH. which is about less than an hours drive away from my humble abode

I am a big fan of JJ Abrams and it's nice to see he gets some big budgeted money via Speilberg producing. I love monster movies, and this seems like the monster-movie to beat in the next couple years!!

I will be seeing this movie tonight

Way the hell offtopic but, I thought the monster from 'Cloverfield' looked like a giant skinless chocobo (the big bird thingies from the Final Fantasy series), just my 2 cents.

I saw it, and it was great. the best one-liner I can think to describe this movie is a cross between Cloverfield and E. T.

they call it "super 8", but really theres only 6 kids.. wheres the other 2.. not in the back of the van if thats where u getting at.

i plan on seeing it, i just pray its not lame. i wanted to see the new xmen but it looks extremely boring

I like the new poster. It has a nice 80s look to it.

Pretty badass poster.

I saw it today. Definitely worth a viewing. I'm just going to repeat what a lot of people have been saying; it's refreshing to see a big budget movie that some originality has gone into. I mean, you could go and see the fourth Pirates movie, the fith X-men, the fith Fast & Furious (lol), the seventeenth Harry Potter movie, etc.

Spot on.

i saw it this weekend - GREAT film! i've never seen Cloverfield, but it is definitely reminiscent of E.T.

I like it a lot. The kids did a really good job, especially considering it's the first movie the main boy and the (for lack of a better term) fat one were in. It was nice to see actual character development and plot in a summer movie for a change. The monster looked pretty cool and I was glad it wasn't shoved into every third scene. CGI overkill ruins a movie for me. The ending could have been a little better, but overall I was entertained.
