LSD in powder form?

Has anyone ever encountered LSD but in powder form. I was offered some last weekend. Knocked it back since i'm not a big fan of psychedelics, so i can't give any personal accounts, surfice to say, the user "claimed" it was the real deal. I'm a little skeptical, i've never heard of LSD like this before. Is it possible for LSD to be used in powder form? Does it happen?
 
Ive never seen LSD in powder form myself, but I know that in the 60's & 70's LSD was available in powder form.
Sorry I wasn't much help, but I thought I would share what I know... =)
 
If so it would be amazingly difficult to dose - because pure LSD dose would be around 0.1mg... impossible to measure on standard university chemistry scales to more accurately than 0.05mg... meaning your dose could be out by 50 micrograms either way.

I've seen friends taking 'LSD Powder' before and got some light hallucinations but only lasted 6 hrs. My assumption was that it was MDA powder.
and BT, thats exactly what I was thinking. I don't think it would be easy to get pure crystals fine enough to mix with anything evenly enough to guaruntee moderately regulated dosages.
I honestly can't see the point in storing it in a powder instead of in discrete doses. Huge hassle, high danger and great risk of water damage/glugging.
BT, just for curiosities sake, can LSD actually exist in powder form and if so what kind of process would you take from the liquid to powder?

From my research in the synthesis of LSD and LSD analogs, one can actually create a tartaric acid salt of LSD. The benefit of this is that it is much more stable than LSD. Tartaric acid is added to liquid LSD in a 0.1% solution to prevent oxidation.
So yes, in theory a powdered form of LSD can exist: LSD tartrate. I don't remember exactly how one would go about it, as I am not a fan of that synthesis. Too much expensive chemicals/equipment.
A story comes to mind of some people in America getting their hands on the said salt, snorting it up thinking it was Cocanine, and spending a lot of time in hospital. Apparently they each had about 1000 times the average dose each. ( 1975, Clinical Toxicology Volume #8 Issue #2.)

Isn't the "lsd powder" more likely just crushed up lsd pill.. Pure "lsd powder" as BT said, would be litrally impossible to dose with, even with the best scales.
 
Not necessarily impossible to dose with - dissolve a known amount of powder into a known amount of liquid, then C1V1 = C2V2, get a syringe and hey presto, you can accurately dose in micrograms all of your trips.
Simple enough to me.
As for powder, have never heard of it personally, but how does it get dissolved in a solvent for liquid, or in solution to have sheets dipped in? The powder must exist out there in certain circles.. those funky kinda forms of chemicals always do.
 
LSD tartrate is able to dissolve fully in water. Make sure it is de-ionised or distilled water cause the chlorine interacts with the LSD and makes it inactive.
And a further addition to SupaspeeD's suggestion addition of water to LSD, if you add a large amount of deionised water to the LSD, the problem of overdosage will be decreased because the margin of error will be increased by the larger amount of water needed.
And SupaspeeD's question, LSD in its pure form exists as a liquid at room temparature. The LSD is then usally diluted with a 0.1% solution of tartaric acid to such a stage that about 1ml = 1 trip (100-200 mics/ mL)
As with blotters, you simply get the said diluted LSD, and soak the blotters in it. Simple.
 
LSD is so hard to find these days i would be very very skeptical of someone who said they have it powdered form!

I know a movie isn't the most accurate medium but wasn't LSD powder in fear and loathing in las Vegas?
classic druggie movie moment when Johnny Depp gets walked in on in the bathroom with some musician dude sucking LSD powder off his jumper :D
 
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is just a hollywood movie - do not use it as a factual basis for any decisions or ideas.

I thought the powders LSD crap was in Very Bad Things?
Erm, probably not, my memory is pretty fragged.
 
Many many moons ago, LSD was actually available in tablet form. This would mean that it would be mixed in at a correct ratio. These tablets would typically be stronger than blotter paper. This is like in the 60s.
