Film: Cookers

I thoroughly enjoyed this film when I saw it fairly recently, having heard nothing except it was a slow burn affair with a good representation of drugs and their users. Though I don't know any crystal meth users myself, the acting and writing in this movie seemed mostly very good. All three of the leads give their all in top drawer performances, amazingly effective for a low budget film like this. The direction is great too, turning the location (mostly a creepy house) into a deeply unnerving place and putting the viewer right into the horror of it (well I thought so). I really liked the plot of this one, its rare that drugs are mixed into horror movies in a serious and interesting way and I found this treated the drug use in a refreshing manner. My problems were with the pacing and the ending. Whilst I have no problem with slow burn horror, this one possibly has too little going on. The atmosphere is thick and disturbing but the events could have done with more substance. The ending though appropriate and intriguing doesn't quite end the film in a manner consistent with the fear that has come before. These are hardly critical flaws though, in my opinion this film is still a real doozy and recommended.
