MARIJUANA smoking would be decriminalised, fines cut and users able to grow 10 plants without conviction under secret recommendations to State Parliament.
The Herald Sun has obtained a taxpayer-funded report, one of the most detailed undertaken into marijuana in Victoria, revealing how to soften the state's drug laws.
The report backed civil penalties as small as $50 for repeat marijuana smokers and said growing 10 plants or less constituted a small amount for personal use...

A MAJOR report backing marijuana decriminalisation was suppressed despite a specific requirement that it be made public.
The report to a powerful State Parliament committee backed decriminalisation, smaller fines for personal use and allowing as many as 10 plants to be grown by smokers.
But the State Government yesterday distanced itself from the report, which was handed to the Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee shortly before Steve Bracks seized power...

Then what the hell was the newspaper report this week about the Bracks government planning to ban sales of bongs? It made the front page of one of the newspapers (maybe MX or express in Melbourne?)...

mmmmmm legal billies

This is exciting news people, I don't deny it.
But if we've learnt nothing else from all that the Herald Sun has to say on drugs, we have learnt they are fucking liars who manipulate the truth in every way shape and form possible.

Fucking herald-sun, again.. did anyone else notice the headline mentioned "legal" marijuana, but then the article says straight away that "marijuana smoking would be decriminalised...." etc - typical.. absolutely no mention made _anywhere_ of dope being legalised, but they run that as the headline in 40 point font to scare the crap out of joe public, once again.. [sighs]
Oh yeah, anyone see that the 'voteline' result in the HS a few days ago (question: should marijuana be decriminalised?) was 57% _in favour_?! Now that, for once, _is_ something surprising in the herald-sun.. what's not so surprising is that not one article on the result has appeared since it was printed, whereas if it had have been a majority 'no' vote (which I'm sure was what they would have been expecting), it's guaranteed an article harping about "public disapproval of proposed softer drug laws" would have appeared the next day..
