One4b drugs seized by Health Ministry in Timaru raids
31 January 2001
A Timaru property, the backdrop for an Internet-order "legal high" operation, was raided by the Ministry of Health and police on Tuesday afternoon.
*deleted*, "suppliers of legal highs", had bottles of *deleted* (GHB-OH) head cleaning solution and sachets of One4b taken by ministry staff and police.
A company spokesman told One News on Tuesday night that he supplied the product to several distributors, including Auckland-based Outerspace, which has been distributing the legal party drug One4b, responsible for four hospital admissions in the last week.
Ministry communications manager Peter Abernethy confirmed on Tuesday night that ministry staff were at the Timaru premises, and action taken was part of the investigation into One4b. He would not comment further.
*deleted* and One4b contain 1,4 butanediol, an industrial solvent. *deleted* is marketed as a record, CD and head cleaner and carries a warning to keep it out of the reach of children.
One4b is a legal version of the banned drug Fantasy, also known as GHB, or liquid ecstasy. It is sold in New Zealand, via distributors and through the Internet.
Mark and Kate Barlow, who run Outerspace, say One4b is safe and beneficial, if taken correctly.
Mrs Barlow said the company obtained its product from a Timaru supplier in litre bottles and re-packaged it in Auckland.
*deleted* NZ sells Puritech in litre bottles for $165 (including postage) and 300ml bottles for $65.
A double sachet (10 and 5mls) of One4b had been sold for $20.
The ministry stopped the distribution of One4b on Monday, and warned the public not to take the drug.
Police and the Medical Association want it banned.
Director General of Health Karen Poutasi said One4b may have breached the Food Act and possibly the Medicines Act. If it had, its distributors were likely to be prosecuted.
The Health Ministry investigation would look at whether the drug could be legally sold as a dietary supplement.
The latest victim of an apparent overdose of One4b was released from Auckland Hospital early on Tuesday.
The man, 20, was flown to hospital on Monday night from Piha Beach, northwest of Auckland, in a coma after taking the drug.
A spokesman for the hospital said he had been kept in hospital for about six hours and discharged just after 1am.
He was the fourth person in as many days to be hospitalised after taking the drug, being marketed as a dietary supplement.

How the fuck am i supposed to keep my cd's clean now?!
It's interesting, *deleted* isn't marketed as a dietry supplement. How then could it fall under the food act, or for that matter the medicine act?

Weren't they closed down a while ago? Or is this the final stage of the government shutting em down... raiding their warehouse?

I think 1,4 B is marketed as a dietry supplement in the appropriately named, one4B dietry supplement. Hence, I guess since 1,4 B is in *deleted*, it falls under the food act. It would be pretty stupid if once4B was banned under the food act becasue it was dangerous and contained 1,4 B, but *deleted* wasn't. If that makes any sense to you, could you please explain it to me.

So has anyone had any trouble bringing it into australia?? Cause the guy from *deleted* said sometimes aussies get ask to come in and "pick it up" and say what its for.... Anyone had trouble.?
I was thinking since this stuff is so readily availiable, isn't it highly possible that most of the "GHB" that gets sold is shady alley ways is just 1,4 B been passed off as GHB... Sounds to easy.. BUt I would hope not as GHB is supposed to have NO NEGATIVE effects what so ever, while heavy use of 1,4B has been reported to cause starin on the Kidneys and also more easily addictive

OK, so as you guys can see, ive masacred this thread for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, the general rule of bluelight, is no names of suppliers, whether they be legal or not. Now, I know this has been all over the news, but the fact stays, I dont want names of suppliers on bluelight.
Secondly, you guys know pretty much all there is to know about the situation, and can I please ask, when continuing this topic, dont use names.
Also, if you want to continue purchasing from this supplier, I promise you, you will want to keep the name quiet for as long as possible. I am doing this for your own sake.
GHB, 1,4b etc... is nectar of the gods as far as i'm concerned, and I want it to be part of my "list" for as long as possible, but with the names of suppliers posted everywhere, you can be almost certain customs will put a VERY quick stop to this, no matter how fucken dirty your CD's are.
So please guys, just think before you post ok?
ps: Sorry if ive pissed anyone off by editing your posts. You understand why

Hey chemical night,
Regarding the passing off 1,4b as ghb: it would be hard in cases and easy in cases. If people know what both taste like, then it would be very difficult to pass off one as the other. GHB has a distinct salty taste...the more potent the liquid, the saltier it is...where as 1,4b has a distinct metallic and chemically taste...we've actually come across 4 different hybrids of ghb...one had a distinct floor polish smell, but the taste of GHB...weird.
by the same token, if someone hasn't had either before, then there would be no comparison to refer to and people could pass off 1,4b as ghb.
