I have some pods coming and they are coated with a spray to "preserve" them(is what the distributer said)

is this coating toxic?
do i have to remove this coating be for grinding them up for tea?
how do i remove the coating?

the coating is not a paint, it is just a clear coating used to preserve them is what they said.

i think she said sulferic nitrate? but i cant remember i deleted the email.

I hate to break it to you, but there is probably no removing the coating. I wouldn't go ahead and grind them up or anything as the coating material could be toxic.

Don't use the coated pods. There are plenty of uncoated pods available if you look.

i can post picks of the pods i get if you like they are coming in tomorrow. :( was really looking forward to it.

what if i remove the outer area of the pod? or just use the seeds?
also please email me if you can help me find uncoated.

The seeds likely won't work. The reason seed tea works in some cases is because they crush the pods to get the seeds and the opium in the walls gets on the seeds and then they don't wash it. If you crack open a dry pod and try to use the seeds, or try to use washed seeds you won't get any opiates in your tea.

I wouldn't use any parts of the pods you purchased unless you know EXACTLY what is on them and if its safe to ingest.
