Is there any way you can choose to filter out which forum(s) you want to show when you hit New Posts? For example if I want to see posts only from the CD, OD, BDD, and Lounge, can I do that without having threads from forums I don't want to see fill up the new posts page?

Thanks.

Huh... that'd be like subscribing to forums rather than threads... interesting, I had never thought about that. To my knoweldge there isnt a way to do that, but perhaps someone else knows something I dont. I'll be interested to see if there is something like that.

Oh, speaking of subscribing, do you know about that? That you can set your profile so that every time you reply to a thread it goes into your "subscribed threads"?

I've heard of other forums doing that (vbulletin) but I'm not sure if the admin has to set that option or not.

Yes I know about subscriptions, but this is different. :/

For example, I don't want threads from these specific forums to clutter the page when I hit new posts.

Yes I know what you meant, I'm sure an admin will be able to give you a better answer than I can :) thank you for the screenshot though.

This'll take some work on your end but you can make a customizable shortcut with this link

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=

After the "&exclude=" you can put all of the forum numbers that you don't want to find new posts in. You can find the forum number by viewing/copying the link to the forums from the main or the index page. For instance, if you wanted to see all the new posts from all over bluelight except for the ones in the lounge you would type

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=28

Since the Lounge's forum number is 28. If you want to block more forums just add their numbers as well separated by commas.

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=23,43,34,26,73,etc.

What I do is open the sub forums I want to read in Firefox Tabs, and then click between tabs and refresh. Tabbed browsing makes Bluelighting much easier :)

You can customize the "New Posts" link to either include or exclude forums that you want to see.

To exclude the forums that you would not want to see new posts from, type this URL into your browser:

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=

and after the "&exclude=" at the end of the URL you add the numbers of the forums you don't want to see new post from separated by commas if you wish to exclude more than one forum.

To include the forums that you would want to see new posts from, type this URL into your browser:

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&include=

and after the "&include=" at the end of the URL you add the numbers of the forums you do want to see new post from separated by commas if you wish to include more than one forum.

Examples:
Exclude
New Post from all over bluelight except The Lounge since your last
http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=28

Include
New Post from The Lounge and no other forums
http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&include=28

Here is what a URL with multiple forums either included or excluded looks like.

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/search.php?do=getnew&include=28,22,70

This URL will find all the new posts from The Lounge (28), Ecstasy Discussion (22), and Cannabis Discussion (70). To exclude these forums and see the rest you simply change the "&include" variable to "&exclude".

You can find the numbers of the forum by either hovering your mouse over the link and checking the target or by copying the link and pasting it in a text document or your browser's address bar.

If you find yourself typing these search URLs in often you can always add them to a bookmark for your clicking pleasure as well.
