Drugs probe at police academy

A VICTORIA Police recruit is being investigated for allegedly using drugs at the police training academy.
It is believed the male trainee was busted using cocaine in the toilets of the Glen Waverley-based academy on Thursday night.
A female recruit is said to have witnessed the incident, even though it was in the men's toilets.
Police spokesman Sen-Constable Adam West said the ethical standards division was investigating a drug complaint at the academy.
The revelation came after police command refused to release details of alleged ugly behaviour at the college, including sexual and physical assaults and intimidation.
The Herald Sun lodged a Freedom of Information request more than a year ago regarding complaints at the college.
Opposition police spokesman Andrew McIntosh backed the investigation and said police exposed themselves to blackmail when they broke the law.
Police Association spokesman Sandro Lotharo said neither the recruit involved in the alleged drug-taking incident nor the whistleblower has sought support from the union.
