WILMINGTON — Customs agents at the DHL airline hub have seized more than 100 pounds of herbal incense found to contain a powerful, synthetic version of the active ingredient in marijuana, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office said Thursday, Jan. 15.

On Nov. 20, customs officers and agriculture specialists examined two arriving shipments from the Czech Republic that were labeled "herbal incense."

One carton contained numerous pouches labeled "Space Diamond" and "Spice Artic Energy." One package said: "Enjoy Genie blend! Release the magic of the enchanting potpourri aroma." The material is labeled as not for sale in the U.S.

It's the first time customs agents have found this product in the Midwest. As yet, there have been no arrests, said spokesman Brett Sturgeon.

Tests for THC — the active ingredient in marijuana — proved negative. Additional tests, however, showed the packets contained a synthetic drug called HU-210, which is 100 to 800 times more potent than natural THC.

Five shipments containing more than 100 pounds HU-210 have been seized so far, with the latest seizure occurring Tuesday. The narcotic was headed for a residence in Florida.

"This very unique discovery of the narcotic, HU-210, is possibly the first of its kind for CBP," said David Murphy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Director of Field Operations in Chicago. "I would like to commend the fine work that the CBP field operations officers and agriculture specialist displayed by detecting and eventually confirming the presence of a Schedule I controlled substance."

^so HU-210 and JHW-01 (or whatever it is) falls under the analog act? lol i guess so :\

JWH-018 doesn't, but HU-210 is a dimethylheptyl substituted analog of delta-9-THC itself.

jwh-018 has been found in _some of the spice blends, but the main active is a slightly modified version of CP 47,497 (http://bka.de/pressemitteilungen/2009/pm090119.html - in german though).

Why would they put an actual illegal analogue, illegal everywhere in the world pretty much in it? (Everywhere has analogue laws, and virtually evrywhere bans thc) - when they already are putting in TWO legal non-analogue cannabinoid-like synthetics? Thats just far too stupid to beleive. This is bunk...

yes, the finding of HU-210 in "spice" by the US customs seems sketchy to me as well, I think the german analyses are more reliable. let's see if the finding of HU-210 can be confirmed by someone else. wasn't word of mouth going that it isn't smokeable at all?

Everywhere has analogue laws, and virtually evrywhere bans thc
no, basically only the USA has analouge laws.

The closest the UK has to analogue are:

The clauses in the MDA schedules would best be described as 'catch-most' rather than 'catch all' as alkoxy groups could be replaced with alk-thio groups (sulphur, rather than oxygen), or other substitutions used. I have had disputes with forensic scientists over the legality/illegality of particular compounds in the past.

Most Tryptamines and Phenethylamines are covered by 'catch-all' clauses in the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Schedule 2 part 1 (b & c) - as amended from time to time.

(b) any compound...structurally derived from tryptamine or from a ring-hydroxy tryptamine by substitution at the nitrogen atom of the sidechain with one or more alkyl substituents but with no other substituent.

(c) any compound...structurally derived from phenethylamine (or several alkyl-phenethylamines) by substitution in the ring to any extent with alkyl, alkoxy, alkylenedioxy or halide substituents, whether or not further substituted in the ring by one or more univalent substituents.

Taking your compounds in turn:

2CT2 (Shulgin #40) - This may well be caught by (c), although the sulphur atom should arguably cause it to fall outside the legislation. A borderline case. Note there was more recent revision of the prohibited list around 18 months ago, this compound may or may not have been specified within that list (which I do not currently have to hand).

nn-dipropyl tryptamine - this clearly falls within (b), and is a class A drug - the propyl groups are alkyl substitutents.

5-Methoxy-alphamethyltryptamine '5 MEO-AMT' - this also appears to fall within (b) as a class A drug.

I hope this information is helpful. You could also ask the Home Office or Forensic Science Service for a definitive answer - but you could run the risk of any currently 'legal' compound being added to the next update of the schedules.

please try to help me

If you could assist with an answer to my question please. Do you know about an insence 1 gram black package called "Space" it has a picture of a galaxy in front? If so does it contain the drug hu 210? Please please please try to help me with this question.

And the analog act is specifically set for substances that are meant for human consumption. Notice how all those spice packets and jars say not for human consumption? or how its called "spice incense", rather than "Spice, smoke this shit and get high"?
