Has anyone seen the commercials for this? It doesn't look like it's going to be any good. Vampires living in southern Louisiana (how original) have been given a cure so they don't have to kill humans for blood anymore. From the previews, it looks like a soap opera with vampires. Anna Paquin is a great actress and hopefully she'll bring some class to this. I'll give it a look when it comes on again, but I'm not expecting much from this. Maybe it will prove me wrong.

After all, it's directed by Alan Ball who did Six Feet Under. That's a plus for me.

I liked the ad campaign. For the longest time I thought there was a blood-flavored drink out somewhere, and searched thoroughly for it only to find that it was "Sold Out" everywhere. Lol.

I watched a screener of the pilot a few nights ago... i really liked it. It is runs on the line of really campy at points, but it seems intentional. Seems to have a great premise. They introduced a few new concepts in the pilot that should make this a very interesting show.

I'll wait till more people have seen it before going any further, but, I'm super excited.

HBO is beating their viewers over the head with this one: fake documentaries and interviews with vampires (lol), endless hours of shows exploring the history of vampires in literature and film. They are trying way too hard to sell this show, IMO. :\

The first episode I found confusing, had to watch it twice.

The second episode was a bit better.

Luckily I completely avoided the marketing bombardment as my free HBO was discovered a couple months ago lol

I found nice streaming episodes online and just watched the first one and I'm getting through the second. I'm happy wasting my time on this so far =)

Gets a little corney feeling during the moments between the main chick and vampire guy, but I'm digging telepathic thing, cool effects and concept.

And the background news coverage is fuckin hillarious! lol very classic cheesy horror humor, I like it =p

so. bad. i tried watching it, the acting was terrible, i wanted to punch anna paquin in her face for her stupid sweet innocent bullshit. i am pretty easy to please, and love the idea, but the reality is crap.

the news clip preview thingies were awesome though

With The Wire, The Sopranos, and Six Feet Under gone, this is one of the better dramas on television by default. I actually enjoy it, but I can see how someone might not. If you go a few episodes in it actually develops a decent plot. The most interesting aspect of the show is definitely the telepathy.

damn I ran out of episodes to watch.. haha that scene where the brother takes V with that hippie chick is fuckin amazing! Whoever wrote this has definitely taken some good shit before, the way the engery was going between them was soooo like this one time I did 2ce with my girlfriend, it was awesome.

Even if ya hate the show, you should see that scene if you like to trip!

It's one of those shows that I only know about because my sister watches it while I'm in the room. It's really cheesy plot-wise and the actors are mediocre at best. The only reason I continue to even tolerate it's presence on my TV is because of the above mentioned softcore vampire porn. Most of the chicks on that show are damn hot. %)

The show is based on a book series. I'm planning on hitting up the library soon in order to get the books. There are a lot of interesting creatures in TrueBlood. I personally like fantasy/science fiction a lot.

I've only seen a couple of epsiodes. Being from Louisiana, I'm pretty sick of seeing us portrayed as backwoods retards who talk like they're in a Mark Twain novel. Most people that far south have a french cajun accent anyway.

Sookie Stackhouse has to be the worst character name I've ever heard. I miss Carnaval. That show was promising. So far, this one sucks. Pun intended.

^^ lol clever =p

I agree on the accents, I'm not sure if it was just cause I got used to em, but I could SWEAR that they actually made them tone it down a bit as the series went on lol Like by episode three-four it was noticably less outlandish

YEEHAW! =p

I'm lovin the series tho, I didn't expect it to branch out as much as it did, it's giving me the impresison of a vampire/tolkin type world, in that all kinds of new fantasy/sci-fi elements are being introduced as it goes along, it's own little universe. I can't wait for the next season!

I think I'm going to buy the set when it comes out on DVD...though I missed most of the episodes, I kind of got caught in it, and I'm not even a big vampire fan.

It was kind of disappointing to have to wait months to see in episodes what it took barely a week to read in the first novel of the series. I suppose if I don't read anymore of the books the next season will be a little more interesting. Hopefully there will be more nudity/sex scenes... makes up for the weak character development, and the straight out made up for tv characters like Tara that didn't exist in the books.

*bump!*

anyone here still watching? i recently started, and it was really hard to get into at first. the first 5-6 episodes, i was distracted by the bad acting and cheesy plot. but i kept hearing "Just stick with it; it gets better!" so figured wtf. now i really like it, to be honest! i did netflix for the first season, and downloaded the current one. i heard that tomorrow is the season finale, so since i'm caught up it seems like a good time to bump this and see how others feel about it now :)

that smart arsed sass talking black chick keeps reminding me of lacey k with her hilarious attitude. the title credit sequence is far too obviously oliver stone rip off. cute show. don't mind it. but seeing ms paquin's bday suit wiggs me out cuz i always just think of her as a child actress.
