Synopsis:
15-year-old Tracey Berkowitz is naked under a tattered shower curtain at the back of a bus, looking for her little brother Sonny, who thinks he's a dog.

Tracey's journey leads us into the dark underbelly of the city, into the emotional cesspool of her home, through the brutality of her high school, the clinical cat and mouse games with her shrink and her soaring fantasies of Billy Zero - her boyfriend and Rock 'n' Roll saviour. Her travels also put her in contact with the seedier inhabitants of the city. Like Lance, her would-be saviour who ultimately puts her life in jeopardy.

Tracey's stories begin to intertwine truth with lies, and hope with despair as we move closer to the truth of Sonny's disappearance.

Ok, so whilst I was doing a little background check on this Ellen Page I skimmed through her various movies on imdb and stumbled upon this. I thought it looked kinda interesting, so I thought "hey!, lets make a thread". Anyway, certain elements lead me to believe that it could be a load of annoying twaddle. Such as this idea of fragmented scenes. Like how much of it is cut this way?. I'm guessing a fair bit as most of the time spent on this movie went into editing. But on the other hand it could keep the story moving along.

Another factor could be that the rest of the cast is pretty much unheard of (at least by me). Also, it's a Canadian movie. I hate to sound like a dick but to my mind there hasn't been a great deal of decent Canadian movies over the years (I double checked). The only ones I'm fond of are Black Christmas (1974), The Hanging Garden, Ginger Snaps, Videodrome, and Juno. And all were fairly quirky to say the least.

So anyway, enough jibba jabba. What say ye?

This is such a weird film. Somewhere along the line, in between the mish mash of spliced images, and the general lack of plot I began to find myself as muddled as the story itself. But maybe that was the intention?.

To my understanding, Tracey spent the majority of her time living in her head. A fantasy world. This aspect interested me, and for a time kept me hanging on. Especially when her fantasy world was made more apparent by the scenes of harsh reality. In a way the fragmented scenes worked well in creating this confusion. It kind of forces you to share these feelings with the main character, who I could relate to a lot. Especially the way she was treated in school. That really struck a chord with me. There's also some cool-ish dialogue here and there. Though at times I thought it seemed like they were trying too hard. There were some really interesting moments throughout. But overall, pretty messy :\
