Aussie boxing great on drug charges

Australian boxing great Ricky Thornberry will face a Brisbane court next month on drugs charges.
The 39-year-old former super-middleweight star made a brief appearance at Brisbane Magistrates Court last week and is scheduled to again appear on February 13.
It is alleged he was found in possession of speed and a drug utensil in Fortitude Valley on January 2.
The charges are Thornberry's latest run-in with the law since his decorated career ended in 2003. He will also face trial in the Ipswich District Court later this year on charges of unlawful wounding and burglary.
Known as the "Gatton Tiger", Thornberry fought for three world titles against superstars of the sport including Welsh legend Joe Calzaghe and German kingpin Sven Ottke.
His won the IBO super-middleweight title by defeating Rod Carr in 1995 and his last bout was a high-profile loss to Anthony Mundine in late 2002.
