STREETSBORO, Ohio -- A northeast Ohio man faces serious charges in connection with growing marijuana.

Police said a man in Portage County was growing marijuana plants in a field and took photos of the plants.

Officials: Man Arrested For Growing Marijuana Plants

There were 16 plants that he allegedly took photos of and took the photos to a CVS on Route 43 and Frost Road in Streetsboro.

Employees there immediately contacted police.

"The Streetsboro Police Department called the Portage County Drug Task Force, the drug task force followed up on that and they were able to identify a party who was responsible for the photographs and eventually they recovered the plants through an interview," said Duane Kaley of the Portage County Sheriff's Department.

The man's name will not be released because the Drug Task Force is hoping it will lead them to a bigger operation.

Let this be a lesson. The people developing your photos probably look at them!

They have to, it is not a completely automated process.
Just invest in a fucking digital camera already people, I am sick of seeing people getting arrested for this kind of thing. I picked up a 2.1 megapixel digicam at Fry's for 4 dollars on clearance, you'd pay more for a roll of film.

Also everyone take note here because I see a lot of people being very comfortable in posting drug stash and grow photos online with themselves and others in the frame.

i worked in a photolab, and yes, we had to look at the pictures to check quality.
we flipped thru them quickly before packaging them. we were told to report images of drug dealing as well as child porn. nudes were OK, just no penetration.

i remember this one guy brought in like 12 rolls of all these pics of different women in sexy poses, completely naked. he came in before we told him we'd have them (excited?), and he had to wait while i thumbed through all 500 pics of these hot naked women. kind of awkward.

if you're going to take pics of your crop, use a digital camera. you can upload them to your comp and not have to worry about some nosy bastard looking at them and reporting you to the cops.

what a tard.

^^ Law, store policy or not, nosy bastard is exactly right. Sure they got to look at the pics to develop them, but if the law or store policy is to report this sort of thing (although I can certainly understand the kiddie porn thing :|), then that law or policy is disrespectful of peoples' privacy. Besides, this was in Ohio, these photos are not proof that anyone was dealing drugs at all, as medicinal use of cannabis is legal in Ohio.

Well it's obvious the poor fool made a confession, because if he hadn't, the only thing the cops would have had is that he took pictures of some plants or what appeared to be plants.

If someone takes pictures of a burning building, are they charged with arson?

Sorry to bump the old thread but I wanted to give my two cents. Used to date a cute little cheerleader at the CVS photolab and she developed all my pictures for me for free.

She always had to look at the pictures to check for quality, she saw plenty of nudies and sexual pictures... Even a few drug related pictures. Since it was just her in the photolab she had total discretion and never turned in a single picture.

The thing is though, not all photo developers are gonna be so cool about it. Moral of the story- NO drug pictures, esp manufacturing! 8) Damn!

No. I don't think it is. It was on the ballot last year IIRC.... but never made it.

Marijuana and subsequent propagation (small scale) is partialy decriminalized and is only a misdemeanor charge (which goes felony if your dealing, have massive amounts, have guns in vicinity of the drugs, or have/use the drugs around minors or children.
