Drug deaths prompt police warning
Friday, 25 May 2007. 15:05 (AEST)

ACT Police have warned Canberra's illicit drug community about potentially lethal doses of drugs on the streets.

The warning comes after two drug-related deaths in recent days, one in Turner near the city centre and the other in Tuggeranong in Canberra's south.

Police believe the problem has been caused by a near pure batch of heroin.

Commander Shane Connelly from ACT Police says six other people have had to be treated by ambulance officers.

"We are asking the drug dependent community and friends and family of the drug dependent community to please ring the ambulance, " he said.

"If they see signs of drug overdose, we want them to call 000, we want to save these people."

It's good to see that the police are doing something about this situation. Please be careful guys and pass this information on to anyone who you think it may help.

^ Yeah it's really good to see the police doing their jobs in a situation like this: public safety.

The ACT is generally very good with things like this, in terms of law and public accountability the authorities in Canberra are miles ahead of the rest of the states. At least thats what I've been taught..

I feel for the families and friends of those people.

Lets hope the heroin users in the ACT become aware of this.
