Every few weeks or so it seems we get a thread asking for advice on places to go out, so we mods decided that a general reference thread for discussion of such questions might be useful. From now on, if you do have a general question about where to go out, or a particular pub/club, this is the place to post it.

This might seem obvious, but please - when talking about a particular event/venue where you took drugs, don't go telling us exactly where, when and what it was. It's generally totally irrelevant to the point of the post itself, and it doesn't help anyone - promoters don't like to see it, and it often gives a bad image.


If you are going somewhere and want to organise a meetup, this thread is still the place to post in.

New person here, Bris chick, late 20s, going to Cairns with b/f in July. I used to live in Cairns but haven't been back there for around 8-9 years and unsure about night life for late 20s/early 30s, funky dance, fun night whatever.

The b/f is going to Cairns for seminar and I am tagging along and we are planning on a few nights of fun beforehand.

help lookin for a good night out for my birthday (maybe oztrance?)

don't get a chance to get out much these days since i work on the weekends but i'm looking for somewhere to go for a massive one for my birthday (next weekend) and i need some help.

went to infected mushroom at metro on good friday this year and that is the ideal kind of crowd i'm lookin for (in terms of personality and age... not crowd size!!)
Don't really fit in with the "super trendy" night club crowd so i'm not interested in those clubs with gimps out the front who say "sorry... you're not on the list".

anyway was thinkin of oztrance at colonial on friday night... does anyone know if that is happening on fri 1/6 or 8/6???

anyone got any other suggestions for either thurs, fri or sat night coming up??
help me out here coz i know nothing!!

Nope, hasn't been on for ages. Not sure what happened to it. I'm sure you know it but the oztrance forum events section is the best place to find up and coming psy gigs.
 
unfortunately i can't access the oztrance forum coz i'm not a member and they've stopped accepting new members temporarily due to excessive spam... perhaps someone with access could fill me in about some upcoming events??

Went to the Burswood Casino last weekend. HC up...Burswood down whoo hoo. Was gonna hit the ruby room but got in too late and the line went for ages. Pretty ordinary casino though.
 
yeah burswood is fun but sure is ordinary compared to some other the other Aussie Casinos

Yeah the Casino was pretty dodge compared to some of eastern states ones.

Still havent checked out that brass monkey joint. Only heard about that on the Perth BL meet thread, saw it in a magazine as well the other day, looks alright for a quiet ale.

Heard about another club called the paramount...apparently they have some mr puniverse comp and a model comp on at the moment, but a client said its a good mix, band section and dance section which sounds alright.

Might also check out the Euro bar...miss indy is coming.
 
Friendly clubs/bars in Sydney.

Hey y'all!

I am relatively new in Sydney and I was wondering what is the best nightclub in Sydney to be happy and dance all night with friendly (as opposed to alcohol-fuelled aggresive morons) punters to trance music. What i am essentially talking about is the PLUR environment where everyone talks to everyone and everyone is smiley and fun.

My first such experience was in Melbourne 5 years ago at a club called Bubble and i had a wonderful time. I was wondering if there are any equivalents, here in Sydney. So far I've been to Sublime in Darling Harbour and Arq on Oxford. So tell me! :)

Pretty sure this thread will be locked, as it won't be allowed to implicate clubs with drug use. The promoters of the clubs wouldn't want that.

To the OP: If you search the Aus Social forum, you may find other threads already discussing it. I'd do it now, but i'm about to pass out (i'm unwell at the moment), but i'll take a look later on for you as well.
 
Sydney is house territory. Nothing will change that until all the wankers move out.

There are a few hard dance clubs about which is probably what you're looking for. There's Wanted on thursdays, Basscode on saturdays and Sorted Sundayze and Temple on sundays. Out of those, the only club that plays real trance is Temple. The rest is hard trance and hardstyle.
