Most believe war on drugs failing

THE Federal Government is failing in the battle against illegal drugs, according to the survey of Herald Sun readers.

Three-quarters of respondents believe not enough is being done to fight the scourge of illicit substances.

The belief was shared by most readers of all ages, but older people in the country felt the strongest about the issue.

Mind you, before you start thinking this represents a major paradigm shift in the way the public looks at the war on drugs, you should realise that most of the peope who think the "war" is being lost also believe the solution is probably harsher penalties, and more law enforcement. :\

One would think, after reading the first line, that this recognition, however belated, will lead one to the logical conclusion that a war on drugs, which will always essentially be a war on choice, is not only problematic, but also foolish and costing lives.

Unfortunately, i continued reading and disappointingly realised that mainstream society, and in particular the older generation, are still as stubborn as fuck :X :X
