when I found out that the story of the 300 Spartans and 700 Greeks fighting and holding off some 120,000 Persians at the battle of Thermopylae was being made into a new movie, I was really excited. for a while now, I've truly been waiting for this movie to come out. the promo trailer looks great, but I think I was expecting something more realistic (I know it's Frank Miller) than grandiose body gestures like Sin City. this is a major historical battle and a turning point in the Greek way of life. I'm sure there will be some historical accuracy entwined with the hollywood drama, but thats not my problem. I just thought this story itself contained enough drama to be compelling enough without the extra, unneeded, hollywood drama (I know that is hollywood).

but of course I will obviously wait until I actually watch the whole movie before coming to a final conclusion. and I will definitely go see it, because it looks like a really intense movie, historical crap be damned! so I think I can enjoy it for what it is... a highly dramatized, action intensive, Frank Millerized movie retelling of a classic battle. any thoughts?

at the very least, watch the trailer. especially if you like Frank Miller. I think you will be impressed too.

I remember when the books came out, but haven't read em. Look interesting.
 
Opening March 9, 2007. I just saw the trailer at The Departed (great movie by the way) and it looks excellent on the big screen. I haven't had this much anticipation in a movie in a long while.
 
there is a new theatrical trailer at the 300 web site that features more dialogue. yeah I realize that I'm the only one interested.
 
i'm fucking interested... frank miller is straight gold as far as i'm concerned... and his take on a troy/gladiator style movie will be money.
 
I was psyched about this movie since the leaked trailer. Too bad theres still quite a while before this movie comes out. I love the way they romanticized every detail in the costumes and surroundings. I dont even care about the historical accuracy in this movie, the way the battle was visualized and the gritty tone of the movie is an art in itself worth watching.
 
I am soooo stoked to see this film. For the last few years I have been ranting about how there needs to be a kickass action movie about Spartans in Thermopile, and lo and behold here it is.
 
If people wouldn't adlib titles so often there wouldn't be so many double posts.
