Just rented this film last night and must say it is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Set on American army base at the end of the Cold War, it stars Joaquin Phoenix as an army clerk who is mixed up in all sorts of illegal doings, including heroin production and distribution. The movie is really funny (in a black comedy way) and just gets better as it goes on. Anna Pacquin, Sam Elliott, and Ed Harris also co-star and all are also excellent. I don't recall its release in many theaters, which wouldn't surprise me since it violates the hyper-patriotic mood of the US right now. Highly highly recommend watching.

Watched this movie last night and loved it.

Referring to it not being released in cinemas - The back of the DVD, here in Australia, proudly proclaimed that it was banned up until now because of Sept. 11 and Iraq and the fact that it was critical of U.S. soldiers...

After watching this movie I now realise my new aim in life is to compile some 80s techno and drop while listening to it...

The clubbing scene with Blue Monday playing was awesome. 'What's that? -Ecstacy.'

I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct about the banning.

I'm gonna rent it tonight. Smacked out soldiers in a tank ? Who could resist!

Yes... one of my lon term goals in to shoot up in a tank... maybe even destroy a german village in the process...

I LOVED this movie

Yeah, this was an awesome movie.. seen it 3 times now...

I have a question though: In the end where he's requesting like 1000 gallons of Mop n' Glo.. was that just for trade or because Mop n' Glo had GBL in it?

hrmmm... I must know@!

I think it was just for trade, near the beginning he did the same thing and sold half of it, I think.

I wasn't sure about this movie at first, becuase i don't like Joaquin Phoenix for some reason, but i must say it was a good movie. Not superb, but good.

loved this movie.
i even succumbed the 29.95 (damn you JB) to buy it.
worth having on the shelf.

This is an awesome film. Sorry to bump an old thread but I've just seen it. I voted it 9/10 on IMDb :)

Great stuff

I love this too. I really like films that focus on quirky, sweet relationships between two people (Lost In Translation, American Beauty etc) and in that respect, this one is no different. It's also really funny for many different reasons. Deffinately worth checking out. Oh, and Anna Paquin's a hottie :D

This thread needs a pic...

...that's better :D

Uber bump. Just saw this on cable.

At times it was a really great movie.

The tank scene was hilarious! Watching the driver bonked out was great.
