hello, new member
I've searched the forums for info about this but couldnt find a satisfactory answer to my questions
I am seeing a psychiatrist in a few weeks regarding ADD. I am pretty certain I have it and my GP seemed to think it was a reasonable possiblity so he referred me to the specialist.
The problem is that over the last 6-7 months, i've had a pretty sizeable ganja habit (at the heaviest about an oz a month, usually about half that) and i am worried that this will put the psych off prescribing meds or even giving me a diagnosis. Is it best to come clean with them about this kinda thing? If not, some abstaining is in order, as I have heard they do drug tests (and then periodically from then on).
Regarding the tests, are all psychiatrists guaranteed to do this or does it vary from doc to doc? Will a positive result for cannabis (and only cannabis) mean no meds? I would have thought positives for meth would be of most concern to them, but I have no idea really. Weed is the only thing I'm worried about testing positive for.
If I abstain from now on, is there a chance i could be clean after having smoked on average about 10 or 15 cones a day (other than the last week where i probably smoked about 8 cones for the week, and several other periods of a few days when I was dry) for the last 6-7 months ? I would imagine any initial drug test would be done within a couple of weeks of the consultation.
I'm in WA if its relevant. Hopefully there are a few people on this forum who have gone through this process and can give me some answers
