I'm not quite sure how serious Latham is here... LOL. I've bolded what must be one of the quotes of the year.

Something in the Canberra air
By Jason Koutsoukis
September 21, 2005

FORMER Labor leader Mark Latham said yesterday a fair bit of marijuana was smoked in Parliament House and claimed that Labor MP Lindsay Tanner once confessed to being a heavy marijuana user at university.

"Lindsay Tanner once told me that he was such a serious choofer at Melbourne Uni that it spun his head right out and he lost memory from that time," Mr Latham said on Triple J. "He was heavy into it, Lindsay."

Asked if marijuana was frequently smoked in Parliament House, Mr Latham said: "Oh… a fair bit".

He blamed the media for bringing marijuana into Parliament House and said Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone had once suggested drug testing there.

"You talk about the munchies, well, if Amanda hasn't had the munchies at some stage, nobody has.

"She's got no other excuse… you couldn't be that big unless you've been on the munchies. She's obviously got off it, she knows that it's been going on and she wants drug testing."

Neither Mr Tanner or Senator Vanstone were available to comment yesterday.

Opposition Leader Kim Beazley has said he has been taken aback by the views expressed by Mr Latham in his diaries.

"And now we find that something else was going on in his mind," he said.

ROTFLMAO!

I wonder if he's remotely serious or just pulling the chain?

-plaz out-

Don't get me started

After those pathetic interviews on the ABC, I'd be taking every statement from this dick with a pinch of salt. Not saying dope smoking in Parliament doesn't occur, I'd just be wary of forming an opinion on the matter based on what Latham says.

What a dork.

Anyone who'd now give this guy a job would be just asking for failure. No wonder Latham continually mentions his happiness at being a home dad. That's about all he's suited to and good for IMO. But even then, you'd have to wonder whether it might be better if welfare stepped in and rescued his kids :\

Get it out in the open....but do it appropriately, not as a bitter, book promoting, bottom lip backlash at past cohorts.. :X

^ hey, you can't be a skeptic in the face of logical reasoning:

"You talk about the munchies, well, if Amanda hasn't had the munchies at some stage, nobody has."

heeeeehehehehe

I do support latham and labor but man hes being a gronk lately lol....

yeh i dig Latham to now, nothing is better than seeing the ALP in damage control espically when they have got a real live pig as the leader :) oink oink !

He was hillarious on jjj!
I wonder if half of it is just to gain publicity to boost his book sales?
But he is being a complete fool, and its funny!

I honestly think Latham is losing his mind. He just seems to be going further and further off track in recent times

I doubt Amanda vandstone has "the munchies" though, I think you could put it more down to genetics with a little bit of greed thrown in there.

I'd always put it down to emotional baggage caused by an absence of the sensitivity/ humanity gene ;)
