The loss of innocence

My verse is lost,
I have no rhyme,
I lost the gift
And wasted time.
There's nothing left
for me to say,
I've lost my muse,
She's gone away.
Innocence was
The name she wore,
And I used her up
like a dirty whore.
I never once
Thought I would miss
The gentle feeling
Of her kiss.
I'm all grown up,
And now I swear
I wish she would
Have stayed right here.
My inspiration
Was my innocence.
But she ran off
With my ignorance.
Some of us have been made to grow up faster than we thought we could. Some of might be fathers and not realize how short a life we've had. Some of us have been close to our deaths more than once due to our choices made through our growing up. Some of us decided to keep our childhood alive by coming together in places were we can still play innocently without the scrutiny of society and the burden of what's right or wrong coming down on us. This is our time to play. Some of us have lived!

HOW TRUE!!!
We spend our childhoods immitating adults, wanting to be adults, wanting to be free...just to realize that we were never more free than when we were a child. In fact, as a child I hated passifiers, but now, I'm 26, and everyonce in a while i will feel the urge...to chew one in half. Great poem Rollo, great to see you again!
