Y rollers r such great ppl

I'm not going to get all gushy and gooey (it IS a Monday come-down, after all!!), but GODDAMN rollers are the best people!!! You take it 4 granted sometimes, but then you go back to a bar/pub where guys are leering and pinching your ass, there are fights, vomit etc, people talking about 'fags', and you just want to go back to the world where everyone is open-minded, accepting, interesting, and just a little bit freaky! I think there is such a difference b/t rollers and non-rollers - even when everyone's sober. Of course, I have lots of non-roller friends too, which only adds for more variety!!
Btw, can anyone explain the symbols that go with a post (smiley face, question mark etc)? Some are obvious - but what are the differences b/t the different smiley faces? As you can tell, I'm a bluelight newbie

flame me if you will, but i find that almost everyone i talk to at a rave is going to be a good person, could just be the people i pick to talk to, but a lot of my friends ive just met at parties, i think this is a lot harder to do at a venue like a pub (i am biased tho ) and all the bluelighters ive met are all unreal too.
the last time i went to a pub (not that long ago either) all the guys are just talking about 'picking up' it just seems so tacky to go out, get drunk enough until your confident enough to dance, sway around a little and then try to smooch some innocent stranger that most likley has no intrest in you, i dont mind a drink with friends, but the 'pub scene' just doesnt have it.
im not saying tho there are not bad ones in both crowds, but ive rarely encountered them

I'm only a newbie so don't think I've all the answers (I don't think I have any answers) but the rave community lives by the PLUR philosophy.
And because when rolling emotions are hightened you find most people are (I don't want to add this but I will) as REM put it years ago "Shiny, Happy, People".
You just don't get the same regular crowd in a bar. That's why we are such a beautiful community.

I totally agree, last saturday night a friend & I decided to get dressed up and go to the casino to roll. We were all loved up sitting on the banks of the yarra saying hi to people as they walked past and just generally being friendly to the world and we had one group of people run away from us, another group ask us were we on heroin and did we need an ambulance, a lot of people generally ignore us or give us strange looks and a group of umm how do we say QBH wankers ask us were we on hard core acid and when we tried to explain that we were on a e they proceeded to explain that e's don't make you love things and that we should be jumping around like idiots at a rave of some description. All we really wanted to do was find some nice people who would say hi to us..the seagulls were more interesting in the end ... oh yeah and the yarra river scum (I do recall loving a pile of floating rubbish at one stage). Moral to the story, don't try to spread love in the world..or at least don't drop e's at the casino and then look for people to talk to.

I dunno about this. You might not like a pub scene of the type of people that go to get sloshed of their face, but they do. Just like they couldnt possibly understand a bunch of kids dressed up like idiots running around hugging everyone.
raves have there fair share of dickheads too. Ive had a heap of shit stolen from raves.
Pubs have really nice people as well. In London, we got blind drunk and made friends with heaps of people. Everyone was really nice and, as the English say "up fer it".
It just goes to show, no where is perfect, its just that we will find more people who are suited to our personality than most other places.

cowboy mac.. just in regards to your signiture... do you guys think that when you buy nangs thats people "realy" do know what your getting them for.. I think its mainly us guys (limited number in oz) who now what fun comes from them.. most people would think your off to blow something up!!

ANyway.. I agree totally about the friendly ness and the chats in the rave scene.. Half the fun its taling cod shit to strangers happily..!! :O)

As a whole people who take ecstacy are usually a nicer bunch of people IMHO, but as Horsey said, every other group of people you could slot into any category, and those groups of people you can't, all will have some members who are great people, and some members who are assholes...
But where the rave scene is concerned, it's prolly all the jaded ravers who are the assholes

I went through a stage when I got into pills of disliking people who drank and got messy and went looking for random snogs in pubs (even though it's what I grew up doing)
But now I've rediscovered the joy of being drunk and picking up people. Maybe the English don't take the whole drunken pick up thing as seriously as we do, but being drunk with your mates is so much fun!!!
In fact it's hilarious. See the funny side....don't take things so seriously. And let people do whatever the fuck makes them happy. Drinkers don't need people telling them what they're doing is stupid. Just like 'ravers' don't like people telling them what they're doing is stupid.
And anyway...why should the two be separated? I love doing both, depending on the night. Does that mean you'd judge me if you saw me drunk coming out of a pub? How do you now I don't take pills on the weekend?

Xtine22, I just wanted to say that, people most probably either gave you guys strange looks / ran away, because, in natural fact, people on e's do appear slightly psychotic to totally straight people. I used to find this so before I started rolling, but to alot of people who haven't experienced E before, would have no idea what would be going on in your heads to be acting in such a way, and as such have very confused views towards you. So it's not so much so that they didn't want to say hi or whatever, It's just the manner of which your "hi's" and "hello's" came out that warded people off.
Am I on the write track people? This is just what I've observed over time... if anyone at all feels the same way / differently, please tell us!
