Two treated for overdoses after Adelaide rave
Medical authorities have moved to put into perspective two drug overdoses at a controversial all-night rave party held north of Adelaide this weekend.
Two people were rushed to hospital in Adelaide early this morning but there has been praise for organisers.
An estimated 8,000 people attended the 17-hour Enchanted 2004 rave at Port Gawler, which began yesterday afternoon.
Drug checks were made as people entered and police were on stand-by, as were doctors from the Royal Adelaide Hospital and ambulance crews.
They treated several people for minor sprains with one person hurt by falling off a bicycle.
Early this morning, the South Australian Ambulance Service took two people to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after they collapsed, showing signs of hallucinating from drug overdoses.
However, the hospital's Dr David Caldicott, who has been at the event since it started says the crowd was very well behaved.
He praised police and event organisers, saying at no stage did he think anybody's life was in danger.
The event finished about 7:00am ACDT today.
