Fenethylline is theophyllineethylamphetamine. In other words, theophylline is covalently
linked with amphetamine via an alkyl chain. The main metabolites found in urine
after fenethylline administration is carboxymethylteophylline (39-43% dose) and
amphetamine (23-33% dose). According to some references, the produced racemic
amphetamine contributes probably only little to the CNS effects seen after fenethylline
administration.
