The Acid House

Excellent? Sadistic? Stupid? Difficult to understand?

All of the above and so much more in my opinion. Most of the Scottish accents are fairly thick, so some viewers may be put off.

What did you think?

The third story about Coco Bryce is especially good. Something about a grown man tripping off his nuts, then getting stuck in a baby's body and watching his parents fuck .. is just so cool :)

If you haven't seen it, I highly reccomend renting it out on DVD. Although don't expect your video store to have more than 1 or 2 copies.

definately one of the more twisted flicks I've seen. In the Coco Bryce scene the baby just looks so fake and wierd but it totally adds to the all round bizarreness of the film...

I haven't seen it for at least 5 years... might rent it out

Not a bad film but the book is fantastic.

I liked the story about Coco Bryce the best.

Areet ^^^

Am currently reading the Acid house some of the stories are fuckin hillarious. I've just read upto the Gratton Star Cause and thought it was funnier than the film, Although the film does do it justice.
Out of the 3 in the film it has to be 'The Acid House' Ewen Bremner is the boy like

haven't seen the movie but i loved the book.

"Don't shite in me mouth Doreen, not in me mouth"

"Oooo I shite in me mouth"

Mwahahahaha Fucking Class

I'm with Rushes-book much better.Irvine welsh is a god!

i too enjoyed the movie but the book more (although that's not too surprising as there are about 10 more stories in the book).

alasdair

Yet another vote for the book being better than the movie :) Loved the book, enjoyed the movie... but the book was better because of the sheer amount of stories in there :)

Haven't read it in a while, nor seen the movie in a while, but I remember being quite a little disturbed by the film when I saw it...

CB :)

after totally looking forward to this film, i thought it was fucking atrocious.

the bad production values (and possibly even bad acting) were to be expected, but the way the story was put onto film was just bad bad bad. very little good came out of this: if you're going to show the dirty side of society, like irvine welsh tends to, you need style. trainspotting had it, this didn't.

imo ;)

I wasn't thoroughly impressed with the movie, though it was entertaining. I also was a victim of the 'reading the book before the movie' syndrome in which comparisons are GOING to happen and, more times than not, the film leads to disappointment. This time proved no different.

I agree with 1234.
the whole movie was like 3 or 4 movies in one and I had trouble linking some things up.
About 20 minutes into it I wanted to turn it off, but I couldnt in case ito got better somewhere i missed out on something.
I thought it ended abruptly as it started.
Normally i walk from a movie with a few thoughts about ...or something.
this was just like 'WTF?'

im not disappointed i saw it, but felt like i wasted time on it.

I found the film kinda boring, since I read the book first.

Ewen Bremner's performance was quite good, though. The man has absolutely no shame as an actor, which certainly suits him to Irvine Welsh roles.

I don't think authors should be the ones to adapt their own novels. Unless they're Douglas Adams.

the film is campy and welsh's writing is anything but campy. i enjoyed it despite the glaring omission of my 2 favorite stories ( eurotrash and smartcunt)

I personally loved this flick.... obviously the book was better, but I thought it was brought to the screen quite well (especially on such a low budget).

So who wants The Questionin'?

If I had seen the movie before or without reading the book, I would have thought it was with it's merits, but still pretty shitty.

That being said, of course the book was better, but the movie did a pretty decent job of adapting Welsh's insane literary style.

Most importantly, it was entertaining.

God i haven't seen The Acid House in years i was probably 16/17 when i saw it still makes me laugh when i think of "shite in the mouth"haha.
I bought the book not that long ago but found it kind of boring still havent finished it, i think its still packed in a box in the closet. Movie was far more entertaining.

How fucking good is Eurotrash!

Christ almighy, I read The Acid House in a day, and trying to explain to my girlfriend at the time the glory of such stories as Eurotrash, and Smart Cunt. Highlights, no doubt.
