I just saw the film and all I have to say is.....FINALLY HORROR FANS WORLDWIDE GET TO SEE WHAT THEY"VE BEEN WAITING FOR A LONG TIME!!!!!

Rob Zombie definitely has what it takes to make horror films and he shows to prove it in his directorial debut.

The film had amazing special effects which made me feel like as if Tom Savini had a helping hand involved in the production.
Great storyline and an incredible cast of characters.
But the two things that stood out the most was the plot twist in the middle of the movie and the camera switching/cutting to the grinding cult cinema feel.
It definitely had a White Zombie & Rob Zombie Video touch to it.

Even if you aren't a fan of horror movies or not a fan of rob zombie, you should still check it out!

I can't wait until the uncut DVD version comes out......
 
i love horror and i love rob zombie, and i can't believe i missed this one when it hit the theaters. he worked on this movie for a long time, so i'm glad it got released. i didn't think it ever would. i heard that the released version is a very edited version of the original one he had planned. i will definitely have to watch this soon.
 
its a great movie, but to be critical... it was a rip off of texas chainsaw mascre.. just much sexier

the chick dressed up as Bettie Boop is awesome, yet extremely annoying..

i dunno i loved the movie, i love Zombie's style and twist/take on horror with on a visual platform outside of just drawing comics...
 
A great movie? I'm surprised to hear that. I thought it was just retarded.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Perhaps marijuana wiould have helped.

I was waiting for the 1st person to have a negative remark about the movie!

You can take a movie like this and compare it to many horror movies these days that have a rediculous amount of computer animation, cheesy teen actors that came straight out of WB Television programming, or repetitive storylines.

Sure it may seem similar to the Texas Chainsaw massacre but thats of coarse when the MPAA decided to "Slash" most of Rob Zombie's creative production. The outcome is inevitable!

I'd like you to name at least 5 horror movies that were released within the last 5 years in which you think were outstanding.

Better yet name 5 Horror directors that you think made outstanding productions within the last 5 years!
 
Petersko - that's a negative to the marijuana thing... i watched it, and no it still did nothing for me... the ONLY thing that i can honestly say i liked about that movie was rob zombie's hot girlfriend, although ill agree, at times she was annoying... but still REALLY hot. the acting was horrible (maybe it was supposed to be, i dont know, but still) the plot was lacking and the ending was too abrupt. i WAS anticipating seeing this movie too, and i DO like rob zombie... so it's not that i was bias or anything, i just did NOT like that movie.

oh yeah... there was ONE scene that i REALLY did love, that'd be the scene when everything just went silent and the camera panned out while the one guy had his gun pointed at the cop... then BAMMMM!!!!!! that part was pretty intense :)

The fact that no really great horror movies have been made recently doesn't make this movie any better. It's a difficult genre.

I just plain didn't like it.

Just had a look at the rotten tomatoes compilation site to see what the critics had to say... 58 reviews, 50 of them bad. 14%. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/Houseof1000Corpses-1108376/

Not that I particularly care what reviewers say - I make up my own mind. But I'm pretty much in agreement with the average reviewer.

Were these the same reviewers that thought that Donnie Darko, Blood Work, Darkness Falls, The Haunting, Space Cowboys, and a Beautiful Mind were great movies???
 
what's wrong with a beautiful mind? It seems like a great flick got thrown in with a bunch of shitty ones..

i was looking forward to this. the release was delayed for so long, i hope the dvd has all the original material that was cut out.

alot of the circus/freakshow props used in the movie were from rob zombie's own collection.

Here's a response for both of you.......
I usually tend to HATE movies that copy other movies that came out a few years before their time. Hence, it was a stolen idea that was used before.

Beautiful Mind copied PI, it was the same exact plot with the same exact idea except with a few alterations. PI came out 3 years before A Beautiful Mind with rarely any hype.

Donnie Darko, I can't even begin to tell you how badly I think of this Low-Budget film.
They used special effects that were taken straight from the movie ABYSS.
Patrick Swayze and Drew Barrymore were used to hype up the film, getting people to actually rent it. They had no involvement with the main characters. It was like they were just there.
And finally.........The plot was stolen from a combination of 2 movies - Final Destination & Stir of Echoes both which came out 2-3 years before Donnie Darko

i didnt find PI and Beautiful Mind to be even remotely similar

perhaps they're sposed to be, but i certainly wouldn't put them in the same category
 
A beautiful mind is based on a book which is a biography on the life of William Nash... both the book and movie were great....

Rotten Tomatoes is a site that links to other reviews. In this case, 58 others. If a review is good, it is a "fresh tomato". If bad, a "rotten tomato". The percentage of good tomatos out of the entire number is the score. In this case, 8 good ones out of 58, or 14%.

Pretty abysmal review collection.

As for Donnie Darko, it's "okay". I bought it, and thought it was passable. But it wasn't the big space/time illumination some people seem to think it is. It passes off obscurity as depth. If you scratch the surface, the thing falls apart. Check your brain at the door, and it's a fun ride, though.
 
The problem with this movie is because it took SOOOO long to make and its rob zombie everyone was expecting a really good horror movie that would freak everyone out, but he didn't make a mainstream movie, thats not what the movie is about ( some perfect examples would be Dead Alive, Evil dead series, etc). If anyone here really digs horror movies, you know most of the CLASSIC/HIGHEST regarded movies, are CHEESY, thats one of the major appeals of horror movie, its cheesy gory FUN. House of 1000 corpses had all of this. It wasn't supposed to be another scream or another 'the ring' or whatever freaks you out. It was supposed to be a bloody horrible fun movie and it had all the elements that make horror movies fun to watch. I dunno, just my opinion, but i'm also sleep deprived right now and probably not even making any sense.
