after spending the better part of today throwing up and the rest of it now on my PC trying to focus on the monitor, my vision is still blurred and my stomach hurts like hell.....I've come to the question, why do I do this to myself? why drink alcohol and why go out week after week ?

now I know it's a very good social thing, but other than for being with friends, why do you go out and drink?

at this point in time, I really think the side-effects by far outweigh the good effects.

so why do you do it?

because it's fun (when I do it). I like to enjoy my life and this is one of the many avenues in how I enjoy it. Simple. I don't try to escape any problems/harsh realities.

Also, there are drugs (since you implied drug use) that I use to expand my mind/consciousness.

Can't say anything else, cause that's it.

hahaha, cause we all love it, including yourself.

Straight life can get quite boring at times, you need to let go every now and then, even if you do hurt the next day. If you don't enjoy it and your not having fun (which it seems) find something new to do with your spare time.

I don't do it because of the side effects/effects. ;) When I compare it to any other drug I take, it just doesn't stack up - of course its only an opinion. The decreased ability to articulate your thoughts, the feeling of your IQ dropping, dehydration, cost, and the adverse effects of a hangover are the main reasons why I don't drink at this point in my life. I have no doubt I will again eventually, but not right now.

When the positive effects are outweighed by the negative effects of any drug, it's time to re-evaluate your situation. That might be reduce your dose/frequency, have a break, or simply move on.

nah, I enjoy it, I think I'm a completely better person because of how i've opened up to things that I previously wouldn't of....

i'm just feeling like absolute shit at the moment...I just wanted to know why others did it...

I do it because I enjoy it.....MDMA that is.....
I feel like i can actually understand people, and what they're about.....I don't drink because the cost is huge, it really makes u feel crap, and u wind up acting like an arrogant fucker.
At least when ur on MDMA you can have great conversations with random strangers, rather than slurring some inappropriate come on lines

:)

that's what this thread was originally about, I had a birthday party to attend last night and had way too much booze.

lol....i should really pay more attention
but it was kinda sorta maybe a bit relevant :)

Also in order to get drunk, you need to consume way more fluid than you need.....kinda like continuing to eat long after you're full.....just makes me feel crappy....and even though random bathroom conversations with strangers are fun, i dont like spending the whole night in there

;)

To get laid ;)

Main reason I enjoy a beer or 10 is to socialise with my mates, bond, all that stuff.
Another reason is to meet a few new people. We all know booze knocks down barriers.
Unfortunatley, there are times when you have too much and you can get a bit to 'inappropriate' ;)

Also to blow off some steam.

I view the hangover as a 'come down'. All a part of paying the price for any 'substance based fun'

generally the first 4 words to come out of my mouth when i wake up after a nite on the piss are:

IM NEVER DRINKING AGAIN!!

but hey, i always seem to get back into it...

oh for the days at uni when we spent 10 days straight drunk..

but damn, wot a hangover then!!

^^
I so hate it when people utter those words!! I stand tall and say i have never ever said that!

Bit of sincerity there please people!! =D

10 days straight is phenominal.. my body would kick in on day 2 and bash me over the head with something blunt and heavy and drag me home and hook me up to a fluids iv.. but i'm not much of a drinker ...

I do it for all the reasons stated above - it's fun - it's bonding it's a bit of an escape and stress relief too!

Who's up for a pint?? Keystroke? ;)

yeh me too, i have felt that way but have never said that because i know itd never happen, and ur only kidding urself, evri1 else knows ull b back on the piss in a week or two.

imo when i have a good night out, no matter how bad the hangover is its still worth it, also whenever i drink i make a big effort to drink plenty of water during the night. i drink water and im fine, its only when i havent drunk sufficient watert during the night ive felt crap the next day.

i drink when i cant get on to any bikkies :p

nah i drink a few nights a week but unless i have pills with it, the next day i just feel like absolute crap. when im on pills my hang overs are fine but every time i wake up after a night on the piss withOUT pills i wake up and say to myself.. wat the fuk was i thinking :S

alcohol in general is pretty shitty. for under a $100 i can go out have a few pills and enough drinks and will have an Awesome night..

for $100+ i can drink myself into a tired, loud, arsehole who does stupid shit, passes out places i dont wanna and wakes up to find out my friends have photos of me in situations i dont wanna be :p

think about it..

:\

For some reason alcohol doesnt give me really bad hangovers...I mean I might get a little headache, maybe a tiny bit sick, but nothing that effects me to much.

I use to drink alcahol alot and during those times ive never tryed e before
Now days i pop occasionly, but i realised after popping alot these days im becomming more sensative to alcahol
I mean i normally drink hard anc control my self quite well but not anymore
does anyone have those symptons after popping?

Going from experience alcohol generally = more bad times out of good times

I would say alcohol is good for a buzz but not good for a deep and meaning experience.

I think the problem is that most people start feeling good by their 3rd or 4th drink. They get a nice buzz. But mistakeningly obey that most human of behaviours and continue the habit of pouring more alcohol down their throats, thinking this would/will only prologue their buzz (and avoid the boredom that is the reality of most social situations). Of course they simply get more drunk which in turn switches off higher brain functions that generally protect us from stupid behaviours like pouring poisons down our throats. Unfortunately its not until the very end of a binge that one loses control of their mouth and hand, or the eye coordination.

What a world it would be if drugs such as LSD, MDxx replaced alcohol as our main social release valve.

I have uttered those 4 evil words once and I stopped drinking for a good 12months because of it.

Alcohol poisoning is a bitch.

However, after my whole honeymoon stage with new drugs coming from left right and centre, I decided to pick up a glass of the good ol' amber liquid and much to my suprise recalled how enjoyable drinking can be.

I used to be your steriotypical binge drinker a few years ago, go out somewhere and drink as much as humanly possible, stumble around, make out with some guy you'd in no way be interested in when you're sober, then somehow make it home before you passed out. But once I stopped and came back to it I've founds its much more enjoyable to have 3 or 4 drinks and be happily pissed but still in control (my tolerance also went down the toilet from such a long break).

As far as I'm concerned, alcohol is another drug with abuse potential. When used in moderation it can be a lot of fun, but when overdone you just turn ugly and no one really wants to be around you.

Anyway, I cant hate alcohol.. then I'd have no margaritas!
stace.

Being half asian doesn't help my love of beer.

After about 4 or 5 beers I go all red, feel sick (not drunk), and then throw up and pass out for about 2 hours. So pretty much I bypass the drunk stage and go straight to sick. And pretty much all alcohol does this, some more then other. Sometimes I can drink a bottle of wine and be fine, other bands I'll struggle with a glass.

This is why I drink 1,4B. It truely is like alcohol but better.

^ I agree about the 1,4B [not intending to glamorize it though].

Here's a wacky solution to the age old issue of blinding hangovers and maximum crainial pain....Drink less!

it certainly works for me... ;)

What a world it would be if drugs such as LSD, MDxx replaced alcohol as our main social release valve.

As long as GHB/1,4b etc wasn't included, no ugly people (for the main) would be getting sex for a start
