NEWS: 11 truckies caught

Saw this in the In brief section of the Friday Herald Sun pg. 12

11 Truckies Caught

Eleven truck drivers have been caught with drugs in a police blitz on the state's main roads and highways.

The police road safety taskforce highway unit caught the drivers with drugs including methylamphetamine, Duromine tablets and cannabis in the 11 day blitz which ended yesterday.


Is it possible that the police are trialing the saliva testing technology or were the truckies found to be in possession of the drugs?

Could be either or both. I know that truckies are often searched for amphetamines, etc. when they get pulled over for log book checks/roadworthies.

I believe the police were running a border protection operation along interstate freeways looking to stop large shipments of cannabis from SA. I don't think they found anything significant, otherwise we would of heard of a large shipment stopped.
