SIX people were charged with drug offences during a police sweep of inner-Sydney clubs and hotels overnight.
More than 50 officers from Surry Hills police and the high-profile Operation Vikings took to the streets, along with sniffer dogs hunting drugs and firearms.
NSW Police said nine licensed premises were searched on the popular Oxford Street nightclub strip but some patrons abandoned their drugs during the raids.
"Forty items, including ecstasy tablets and bags of amphetamines and cannabis, were seized after being discarded by patrons when they became aware of the police presence," police said in a statement.
Fourteen people were found with drugs and six were charged with drug offences including possession of ecstasy and amphetamines.
Eight people were cautioned for possession of cannabis and one person was charged with public mischief over the possession of a toy pistol.
Operation Vikings also carried out more than 70 vehicle checks and issued traffic infringements.
