A MELBOURNE man alleged to be a main player in a $100 million cannabis-smuggling operation will be extradited to appear in a Sydney court tomorrow.
Jason Peter Scott, 37, who is in custody, consented to an extradition request by NSW organised crime detectives during a brief hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
Scott was among 20 people arrested last week during raids on 35 premises in Victoria, South Australia, NSW and Queensland as part of Operation Corkscrew.
Victorian police told an out-of-sessions hearing last week that covert surveillance had identified Scott as a principal player in a large-scale cannabis distribution network.
Scott had organised couriers to transport cannabis into NSW using four-wheel-drive vehicles with false storage compartments, police alleged.
During the raid on Scott's Ringwood North home police uncovered records showing he had been involved in trafficking more than $100 million worth of cannabis in the past three years, the hearing last week was told.
Police also seized a Holden HSV worth $100,000, a motorcycle and watercraft, $20,000 worth of cannabis and $10,000 cash.
Scott made no application for bail today and is due to appear in Sydney's central local court tomorrow to face a charge of supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis.
