What is the legal status of methadone in Costa Rica? can one travel to CR with it?

SWIM is in the midst of planning a trip to Costa Rica and would love to go as this is a trip of a lifetime, HOWEVER swim is also on 150 mg daily of methadone, has any fellow bluelighters have any experiance dealing with customs in Costa Rica? Does anyone here know if the Costa Rican medical system has a MMT program in effect? Swim plans to bring his own methadone from Canada along with a doctors note and an emergency script should anything happen to swims luggage or is a victim of theft.
Swim usually takes his dose in juice but is going to arrange getting his doses in pill form while he is abroad, Swim figures methadone in pill form will not stand out as much to customs officials and plans to bring other legal medications \ supplements to "cover" the m-done in a sense even thou swim has nothing to hide as it is legal, still the less eyes on swim the better...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this matter.
 
In my experience the border guards knew as soon as they saw my bottle what was in it. I was straight up with them when they asked and said next time just leave them in your original bottle. This was going from Canada to USA.
 
SWIM isnt necessary

if its your script im not sure that there is much they'll do, like welderman said just leave it in your bottle

Ya, but thats going from Canada to the USA...Im talking about Canada to Costa Rica....

I think Im gonna call the Costa Rican embassy here and find out the legal status of methadone in Costa Rica otherwise
my dream vacation could easily turn into 2 weeks of hell withdrawing in a hot foreign country if Costa Rican customs seizes my meds...
 
If it is pills i don't think there would be an issue. But if itwas take home bottles then I doubt they would let you carry them on the plane. I'm sure I speak for most when I say I would never trust an airline with my methadone.

Calling is a very good idea or call the Canadian consulate there or look on website.

Oh God no, I would never trust an airline with my meds...just imagine how shitty your vacation would be, especially if your goin to a country that may or may not have MMT program....spending all that money and doing all that planning only to have your luggage lost along with your meds and spending your entire trip being mega sick in a foreign land....I dont no about you guys but when im going thru withdrawl I like to be by myself in my own house and in my own bed and even then its hell....Imagine being in a hotel in an unfamiliar (and hot!) country where english isint even spoken... ..talk about a shitty vacation.

Id rather lose all my luggage, clothes, cameras, passport and bank cards rather then lose my juice....

All that stuff would be replaceable, even if it was a mega pain in the ass and expensive, whereas the methadone would not be replaceable. Its one of those drugs thats very hard to find on the street I find too...at least in my neck of the woods, you sorta gotta be in the local scene to find it, someone just visiting for a couple weeks is unlikely to meet the right people to get methadone. Its very unlike coke or weed that way, where most anyone could walk into a bar on a friday night and find that stuff......
 
And you would be panicking counting the hours till you cramped up and became one miserable mother fucker. I think I would go straight to the hospital and hope I got a compassionate dr.
 
Just thought Id let anyone know who was curious...

I just got back from my vacation and it was great. I never had any problems with customs, was pretty much just waived thru, i did not declare the medicine, and they dident search, not sure what wouda happened if i got searched but it wasent the case....

Heres the good part, I went to a doctor and got some prescriptions and methadone along with ANY other prescription drug was available for the price of a doctors appointment, which wasent much, I understand we dont post prices here...lets just say it wouldent cost any more then the price of nice dinner out.

I didnt have an in with this doctor at all, and from what I was told this is standard practise in costa rica so long as u have a passport to show them they dont care...i got oxy, methadone, benzos...im not kidding everything and legally...its a pill poppers dream in costa rica...

what did you do down there besides gettin high?

how much of each drug were you able to get from this Dr.?
 
It was amazing man, id never been abroad b4 so it was super exciting for me, my trip actually was mostly spent being a good boy, lots of beaches, driving out in the country and being with the real community not the tourist bullshit. we stayed out in the country and did our own thing...it was cool...i never understood the all inclusive stay in a hotel for 2 weeks and party thing...why do that in another country, it be cheaper just to save on air fair and rent a hotel in ones own country just to party....i suppose for older folks it be the way to go...

The blocking effects of the methadone made it impossible to truely enjoy the oxy experiance anyhow...i tried skipping daily doses to get more of a kick from the pills but the half life lingered...it was hard to get high...

The coke on the otherhand....fucking amazing and cheap....i did a tiny bump of a car key and it put me on my ass with clean coke euphoria...it was honestly equivlent to a huge line of "good shit" by north american standards...i couldent believe how plentiful and easy to get it was...
 
Sorry, to answer your question as well...the dr would prescribe u heavy monthly limits...like on the upper end of absurd amounts like the guy we all here about around here who gets "prescribed 400 -80s a month"!! ....but not no more...however he did tell me that all i had to do to get more was bring in my buddies and as long as they could produce a passport he would give us whatever we wanted!
 
That sounds like a great vacation, like my my kind of vacation.
I have a few questions.. Did you just go to a random doc or did you ask the locals? If one didn't know Spanish would it be hard to talk to the doc? Does the doc write the rx and then you take that to the pharmacy? Did you take one of your methadone bottles with you to the doc so he would prescribe it?

I'm just curious because the woman and I have been thinking about a trip but she is afraid of running out if meds.
 
what was the strength of the OCs? i would have got some dillys or opana since ive never tried those..i woulde have got some Ketamine too and hell maybe even some steriods to sell back home..

but what iu was gonna say was y ou were so worried about losing you 'done, but i was thinking im sure you could have found dope down there since you wer eable to find good coke..hell you should of asked the doctor for some diamorph
